GOP Says It Found 300 Illegal Votes
Seattle Times ^ | 1/27/5 | David Postman

TUKWILA — The state Republican Party said in court papers filed yesterday that it has found 300 illegal votes and more than 400 that can't be verified in the governor's election.

With Christine Gregoire winning the governor's race by 129 votes, Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance says he now has found far more than enough evidence to persuade a judge to nullify the election and call for a rematch between Gregoire and Republican Dino Rossi.

Lawyers and Republican staffers are continuing to look county by county for votes cast by felons, in the name of dead people or by people who voted more than once, casting second votes either in other counties or other states.

"I expect this number to literally grow every day," Vance said.

Democrats are unconcerned. Their attorneys have argued that Republicans should have challenged improperly registered voters before the election.

Republicans have identified 240 felons who voted illegally. Party workers have been comparing the state's criminal-history database from the State Patrol to a list of voters kept by the Office of the Secretary of State.

The bulk of those are in King County. Vance said there appears to be so many felons who voted in the county that "we will probably never get to the bottom of this list."

He also said the party has identified 44 votes cast under the name of dead people, 10 voters who voted twice in the state and six who voted here and in another state.

Vance claimed the Republicans had found 737 illegal votes, but 437 of those are mishandled provisional ballots. Those ballots were supposed to be kept separate on Election Day but instead were put in counting machines without being verified. The party has not released the names of the people they say cast illegal votes — such as felons and double voters — but it will have to do that before a trial begins.

Yesterday, Republican lawyers filed their responses to Democratic Party motions to have the case dismissed. Republicans dispute the Democrats' arguments that the Legislature, not the court, should hear the dispute and that the court doesn't have authority to call for a new election.

Republicans also argue that they don't need to show which candidate got the illegal votes, only that there were enough to cloud the results.

But Democratic Party spokeswoman Kirstin Brost said, "There's no proof that Dino Rossi won the election, and that's what you need to show."

The ACORN RAT-MOB should be charged under RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations). Are they under investigation?

You're right, none of those has the ring of "better red than dead."

Or perhaps the original version "Better dead than red."

"Their attorneys have argued that Republicans should have challenged improperly registered voters before the election."
"Now tell me exactly just how that could have possibly been done?"

Easy! The same way the dumbocrats did in this past election - make it up as they see fit!

Let's see public prosecutions of those voters who cast an illegal ballot, and then throw the book at them. If any of those felons that voted are on parole, let's see them back in the slammer for felony violations.

I personally sent proof to the Nethercutt campaign that Democrats were solicting my vote from Oregon. There must be a few honest Democrats in Washington that think this stinks to high heaven. I know a few of you. If your party will commit open fraud to win an election, what won't they do for the ambition of power?

You left off

5 Democratic Activist Charged with Election Day Tire Slashing (Milwaukee)

I noted something when I read that article. The charges were brought by the local D.A. But the questioning was done by the FBI because many of the witnesses were out-of-staters who came to Milwaukee to work for the Kerry campaign.

It's my dear hope that one of those "witnesses" is spilling his guts to the FBI, revealing all the Dems' dirty tricks. I mean, with all these fraud allegations all over the country, why would the Feds suddenly get involved in Milwaukee? I hope they told the foot-dragging D.A. the train was leaving the station and he could either get on board or wait to be called before a federal grand jury!

There was also a story this week of the U.S. Atty in Jacksonville opening an investigation into dozens of double-voters in FLA. Wouldn't it be great if this turned into a nationwide RICO investigation?!

This is absolute unadulterated BS. I know for a fact that MOST politicians hate the absentee voter. These folks should be able to wake up the morning after the election & know whether they survived the Primary or or won the General. 90% of the fraud could be eliminated if we went back to allowing absentee voting for specific "good reason." And we could put a real dent in future mishandling of provisional ballots by making a public example of the poll workers responsible for putting them into the system. They need to be prosecuted, fined, & spend some time behind bars. A similar fate should befall those precinct captains who signed off on those machines that (supposedly-*wink *wink *nudge *nudge) contained ballots after election day. I'm sick to death with always giving public employees a free pass & the protection of anonymity.

From these two statements, I am led to believe that either the Democrats are whistling through the graveyard, or (more likely) they have the liberal judge in the palm of their grubby paw and they know that justice will never be served:

Democrats are unconcerned. Their attorneys have argued that Republicans should have challenged improperly registered voters before the election.

and...

But Democratic Party spokeswoman Kirstin Brost said, "There's no proof that Dino Rossi won the election, and that's what you need to show."

"WRONGO. They just need to show enough fraud was there that the election was questionable. Personally, I think it looks good for a new election, unless the courts there are corrupt."

They either remove the fraudulent votes, go back to the results after the first recount or have a new election after purging the voter rolls.

Notes on Latest Republican Press Conference – No New Arguments, No New Proof

Republicans Continue to Claim hundreds of “Illegal Votes But Months After the Election No Proof Of Anything that Would Change the Outcome

SEATTLE - The Republicans are intent on trashing this election. However, their accusations include plenty of exaggerations but no grounds to throw out election results.

The GOP has regularly exaggerated problems in the election. Today is no different. For example, they claim over 400 “illegal” votes by Provisional ballots. However, all indications are that the most Provisional ballots inadvertently put in the wrong slot on Election Day were cast by properly registered voters.

On top of accuracy in numbers, Rossi also has a timing problem. Objections to the registration of an unqualified voter must be made on or before Election Day. For purposes of an election contest, “illegal votes do not include votes cast by improperly registered voters who were not properly challenged under RCW 29A.08.810 and 29A.08.820.” RCW 29A.68.020(5)b. For votes cast by felons to be considered in the GOP election contest Rossi would have to prove that each voter was challenged on or before Election Day. There is no indication the republicans challenged any of these voters prior to Election Day.

Finally, Rossi must prove illegal votes cost him the election - State law clearly states that illegal votes are not grounds for setting aside an election unless there is evidence that the illegal votes changed the outcome of the election. In fact, there are more press accounts of felons voting for Rossi than for Gregoire.

Don’t Listen to Rossi Rhetoric, Read the Statute Yourself - RCW 29A.68.110 – “No election may be set aside on account of illegal votes, unless it appears that an amount of illegal votes has been given to the person whose right is being contested, that, if taken from that person, would reduce the number of the person's legal votes below the number of votes given to some other person for the same office, after deducting there from the illegal votes that may be shown to have been given to the other person.”

If the dems won, then why are they worried?

Because 61% in a recent poll in this state are demanding a re-vote. Anyone think they can keep Rossi out with those numbers?
