To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

You were making good points until that last sentence. The truth is that conservatives in Texas and Florida are relevant to the conservative cause in those states, whereas California conservatives have only a limited impact on state government there.

Sure, you do have Arnie, but that was a very unique situation and may not be repeatable.

Conservatives outside of California can elect state officials, judges, legislatures, etc. that actually DO advance the conservative cause. You keep running Bill Jones as your candidate for everything, and he keeps getting whupped.

There's no doubt that California conservatives are numerous. Huge numbers. What we can learn from that is that California liberals must have even bigger numbers, and they DO advance the liberal cause because we see Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, the gun control laws, the environmental wackiness, etc.

It is wrong for people here at FR to post things that paint all Californians as left-wing kooks. Most Californians are left-wing kooks, but it's not an overwhelming majority except when measured in political terms.

There's a reason why Bush didn't campaign in California this election.

Settle down and take a pill. The point is you guys may have the most conservatives but you guys are like a midget on a harley, you have no control over it, you are unorganized you allow your message to be demonized at every turn by the literati and hollywoodies. You guys will be a permanent minority if you cannot shape your message better.

Show me one state that doesn't have a turd in their pickle barrel somewhere.

Our turd is Mark Dayton, and man, is he getting gamy and ripe.

Things like this. Californians contribute more, have more members and beat Texas on monthly donations by almost 50%. We put our wallets where our mouths are...some are just all mouth.

FR Donations

California $6,070.50
Monthlies $1,629.56

Texas 5,580.00
Monthlies 1,142.00

Florida 1,665.00
Monthlies 753.0

I was specifically referring to the CA bashers.

"Most Californians are left-wing kooks..."

During the electrical energy crisis, we thought that Gray Davis would surely be toast in the next election. He was reelected nevertheless.

Within a year of reelection, Californians broomed Davis out, and got A(r)nold in a process that seems bizarre to me. I doubt that A(r)nold could have been elected as a Republican in a conventional election.

There might be 14.9 million conservatives in CA, but I doubt that A(r)nold is part of that number.

true is some aspects but politics aren't everything either.....Texas has one of the highest divorce rates in the nation, much higher than Calif.......does that mean Texans are not Christian or have no family values.....of course not....don't measure Calif only by politics.....that is a fools game.....

"The truth is that conservatives in Texas and Florida are relevant to the conservative cause in those states, whereas California conservatives have only a limited impact on state government there."

The entire media in CA is owned lock, stock and barrel by the dems and the propaganda is full court, non stop 24/7. . The fact any pub can elected is a testament to the genuine conservative nature of the state.

As far as conservatives not having an impact, that is simply not completely true. Maybe not in the state leg where the dims rule with gulag like terror. But look at Prop 13, Prop 167, Prop 201, the Davis referendum...these are some examples of how conservatives have worked hard and been able to rise above the tremendous advantage dem media hegemony has created.

well part of it is demographics too.....both coasts tend to attract libs for some reason, just like most big cites do...we have an uphill battle for sure but you can't say many here on FR diss the whole state and really know nothing more about it then they see in the papers...why do they bother even writing on FR, a website hosted in Calif. Isn't that hypocritical of them.......of course not but you would think so by the way their hyperbole goes

I agree so why are we stuck with Box of rocks for six more frigging years? Why was there silence in the state when it came to the election of the Presidency and the Senate? The only word we heard from our "Muscle" leader was the billion dollar stem cell package. The only state, our "Muscle" leader could campaign was Ohio???? The only way we can stop the damage that is being done to this state is to first take our party back. Until this is done, there is no hope for this state and we will continue down hill even with Arnold.

I thought I heard everything till they started floating the idea of changing the constitution so AR NO can run for the Presidency. AR NO was quoted as saying the Republican Party needs to move more left. Excuse me but did we or did we not win the election including additional senate seats with the exception of California - no thanks to AR NO. I know the Kennedys want back into the white house but sorry Maria and Teddy it is not going to work but AR No is not the way.

Don't misunderstand, I love California. It is a beautiful state and I am very proud to say this is my home but we must take our party back if we ever want to turn this state around.

The answer is easy. The CA media kept the wolves off Davis' back during that time, blaming everyone and everything but him. During the recall, they couldn't brush the issue under the rug with Arnie and McClintock talking about it everyday.

This is a prime example of how CA voters vote when they are presented with balanced sides to an issue.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

I was fortunate enough to live in California during the glory days when Reagan was governor. I love that state.

I still enjoy returning to visit my relatives in the Sacramento Valley. It still looks familiar, but there's no doubt that the demographics have changed. A majority of Californians have shifted to the dark side. A state that was reliably Republican is now reliably Democrat.

George Bush got 15% of the vote in San Francisco County last November, and he did worse across the Bay. How pathetic is that?

"I agree so why are we stuck with Box of rocks for six more frigging years? Why was there silence in the state when it came to the election of the Presidency and the Senate?"

Beating a lib in CA takes about a 20 million war chest, just to start. The presidential election and the RNC siphoned off too much capital and gave nothing in return. The RNC won't invest in CA because they think it is too expensive and the money could be better spent in smaller states and districts where the money could go much farther.

This might be strategically smart in the short term but devastating in the long. The fact is CA gets screwed by the national party, sucking off money and giving little in return.

Without $$, a candidate is at the mercy of the media here...'nuff said on why we lose.

agreed and part of the problem here also is that people in Calif don't get involved in politcs nearly as much than many other states and hence just vote party lines....I have many Dem friends who are not any more activist than the man in the moon but they go with the flow.....part of it is demographics too....libs just flock to the coast.....I don't hate Arnold nearly as much as you do and I wanted him to fix the state first fiscally and didnt' give a damn at the time for his social views......He has also done some good things, didn't cave in to illegal drivers licenses, trying to overhaul the workers comp etc......I don't trust many politicians to begin with so I thought at the time he would be the best choice and could win even though I am more of a McClintock man
