"In response, abortion rights groups are promoting legislation that would require pharmacists to fill prescriptions or promptly transfer them to someone who will. "

These pharmacists are not extended the right to be Pro Choice about abortions, and birth control. Wait, I forgot, choice simply means that you must use contraceptives, or have an abortion.

"No hassles, no lecture, just fill the prescription," Blagojevich said.

Again, freedom of speech is only protected if you support abortion, otherwise keep your damn mouth shut.

So much for private ownership of business.

--another reason why governors "executive orders" should be limited to nothing more important than-maybe--the length of state employee lunch hours---

"But IF THE PHARACY HAS THEM, it must dispense them to anyone with a valid prescription — or risk suspension of its license, said Susan Hofer of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, which oversees pharmacies."

Simple solution

Don't carry them!

I don't have any problem with this at all----don't carry them and you won't have to sell them.

If you work for a large chain you have to abide by their rules or open your own pharmacy.

Blojo is obsessed with Pharmaceuticals right now. He is forcing this I SAVERX program down peoples throat as well. The program is a sham because it does not guarantee that people are going to get what they pay for due to the FDA possibly stepping in and seizing shipments from Canada and the United Kingdom. He's an idiot and I hope to God we vote him out.

Fill the prescription or be prepared to pay for the children conceived.

Exactly. It's his business and if he wants to lose the revenues that this provides, it's his choice. I didn't see anyone forcing retailers to sell "Unfit for Command", I couldn't find it anywhere, yet Bubba Clinton's face stared at me from a thousand copies of his book on display.

But shouldn't that be determined by the pharmacy not the governor? If Wal-Mart wants to carry them, but they allow their pharmacists to defer on prescribing them, shouldn't that be Wal-Mart's choice, not someone in Springfield?

Good idea. It would be a lot tougher to force a druggist to buy them in order to sell them.

Don't encourage them, it'll probably be the next thing they do.

Get a grip. Do you like strangers lecturing you? People go into pharmacies with the expectation the pharmacist will fill the prescription, explain how to use the drugs, take the money and let the person leave in peace.

Do you think the kid behind the counter a fast-food joint should refuse to serve you because you're a little overweight? Do you think he should point this fact out to you and lecture you on good eating habits?

Pharmacists who want to use their positions to push their particular agendas would do well to seek employment in pharmacies that tolerate such actions. Otherwise, they should shut up and do their jobs.

I'd have a problem with pharmacists deciding what prescriptions I could have filled.

I don't think this is asking too much, if you carry it then you should sell it or have someone available who will. It's not that hard.

I wouldn't want to be denied ham cause the check out person was Jewish. ridiculous

Nope. Your audio memory belongs to me now. I control the volume and I control the frequency. So do ya like Gilligans island?

Good point, but it is their choice. Walmart and other retailers choose not to carry Playboy, a violation of freedom of speech. I don't but that magazine, but if I did, I would just go to another store (or download it).

Does bring up the question though, what if a cure for Cancer was found and certain druggists feel so strongly against smokers that they refused to carry it? Or an AIDS cure was found and the druggist hated gays?

It does come down, however, to their rights to sell what they choose to.
