hahahah Ohhhhhhhh, the humanity!! Notice how you convinently left out the results of the recall election. When you have a race between: Arnold (a populist/moderate), Bustamoney (leftist), and McClintock (kook), Arnolds smoked 'em both.

Since "Dean Baker" only signed up at FR last month, under what name were you posting then?
(you know, back in those days when you couldn't post stuff from DU).

Good God! Talk about a guy who can't get off the public teet! I thought California had a 'three strikes and out' law? This will be his fouth loss.

And each of those losses was by less than 3%, the last campaign for controller in 2000 derailed by RINOs in the state GOP who preferred to give party cash to fellow RINOs and Dubya lackeys rather than to someone with a shot to win.

I think it was South Park Republican? Something along those lines? It was two computers ago...I really can't remember.

Regardless...

Believe it or not, there are Republicans who like Arnold (With all his worts and all..Well, at least in Red-California, we like him) and don't like what McClintock tried to do to the Republican chances in California (After he promised he would drop-out if he wasn't the front runner). I'm one of them...A "Broken Glass Republican", if you will. So...Keep your DU comments.

>>Believe it or not, there are Republicans who like Arnold ...

I don't doubt that. "Liking" a person shouldn't be the subject; his policies and programs should be the subject. Those programs thus far, have given us higher spending, more debt, government land grabs, higher fees for taxpayers, etc.

Did you see the leftist judges he appointed a couple weeks ago? This man is doing lasting damage.

Ehhhh, shaddup! McClintock is the only Republican who doesn't cave like a soufflé at the slightest touch of the Democrats, unlike R-nold, who cowered under his desk after the labor unions came after him!

Here's a quick reminder: McClintock, who got more votes than any Republican running for a statewide position in 2002, was the only Republican who even had a chance of beating Barbara Boxer in the 2004 Senate race. But the RINOs who run the CA GOP, who threw their support behind Shrivernegger in the 2003 recall election, punished McClintock for running against R-nold by supporting Bill Jones, a listless campaigner, against Boxer. Jones couldn't raise funds with a ski mask and a pistol, and turned out to be so insignificant an opponent that the Boxer campaign simply ignored him. Polls revealed there was a significant percentage of people that didn't know who was running against her!

The final result: Boxer became the most-voted-for national legislator in American history, which has given her a double shot of hubris. I am sure you have noticed.

Now that McClintock is running again, I guess I'll have to get used to telling people from out of state (and that includes YOU, Sean Hannity!) that you can't possibly know what you're talking about unless you live here.

I know three things, beyond any shadow of any doubt, concerning this entire situation...

1) Arnold was the only "Republican" who could have beaten Bustamove. (He would have been worse than Arnold).

2) McClintock COULD NOT have won. Regardless of the circumstances. Not in Red-California.

3) Arnold helped re-elect Dubya due to his win in California.

And I knew all three of those things BEFORE Arnold won the recall election. McClintock trying to derail all that made me VERY bitter. And again...I'm just sticking to my word. He's going to get his (From me, anyway).

Re #1 and 2, the Polls directly refuted your contention.

Re #3... Ummm... forgive me, I'm still ROFL!

Whatcha smokin', guy? ROFL.

Oh, really? Tell me, how many of California's electoral votes went to GWB?

None. But Arnold was a BIG hit at the convention, now wasn't he? He's an Independent MAGNET!! And it was pretty close in Ohio, if you recall.

McClintock was/is a loser in many ways. Sorry if that opinion of mine hurts your feelings.

R-nold was going to be at the convention one way or the other. His speech wasn't half as good as Zell Miller's -- that's the one that rankled the Dems.

As for Ohio, s'what? You're telling me that the GOP boosted R-nold for Governor of California so he could campaign in Ohio? Get serious! The only reason Ohio mattered was because California was out of play! And while that didn't end up hurting W, having another wishy-washy 'Pub is hurting us in California!

Bottom line...

BEFORE the 2004 election for president there are four simple facts...

1) McClintock was a sure loser.

2) Arnold had a very good chance at winning.

3) McClintock tried to play the spoiler. He tried to hurt the only Republican with chance to win.

4) "Govenor Arnold" would be an asset to Dubya in the campaign.
