But like a typical button-down Republican, he bowed to the judicial dictators. Yup. We need more Thomas Mores.

I will add your name forthwith.
I also run a Moral Absolutes Ping list which has a wider range, not so busy ususally, since it's at my discretion, if you're interested.

In other words, by denying the father's request the principal and superintendent broke the law - As I read it, the statute applies to sex education classes. The Herald story specified that this involved a "story book" -- which makes it sound more like reading class. Hard to tell, of course.
Really nasty part is that any legal appeal would have to go through the Massachusetts courts (you've heard of them, I'm sure!).

BTW, is your screen name after the Black Elk in "Black Elk Speaks"? I read that years ago, can't even remember much about it...

Parental involvement can and will keep some of this PC crapola under control. Exactly!
I've also noticed over the years that there aren't THAT many foaming-at-the-mouth liberal teachers (not yet anyway:)
The teachers don't even like some of the 'approved' crapola, but lacking any parental input, they're stuck with teaching it anyway.

Why does this need to be discussed in a kindergarten class? In reality, it's an abominable crime against children.
Legally, it makes perfect sense. Gay "marriage" is legal, and portraying "married" men in schoolbooks is as logical as portraying truly married couples. On what basis can a legal objection be raised, except for appealing to reality, or the natural law?

Read it again. I would say that any common sense reaing of the statute would have to hold that depicting homosexual couples as a norm falls under the rubrick of "human sexuality issues".
To: jwalsh07
I would say that any common sense reading of the statute The Massachusetts courts get to interpret it. Ultimately, the MA Supreme Judicial Court, which found the right to same-sex marriage in the state constitution, which specifies that matters of marriage are to be determined by the legislature.

In CT, we are halfway down the slide. Civil unions just passed into law but civil unions ONLY for homoseuxals, blatantly unconstitutional in Ct.

"No because once vouchers are introduced to private schools, the feds will be able to enforce this kind of thing there too. No vouchers." Not necessarily. Parents will patronize voucher-redeeming schools that appeal to them. Whatever the nature of their schools, all voucher-redeeming parents will unite to fight government regulation because it will affect all voucher-redeeming schools.
This will represent an improvement over the status quo, since currently conservatives are pitted against liberals for control of the schools, and we're getting our butts kicked.

Mary, I said common sense. :-}

Yeah, but then you have to find space to store it. The library's got a lot more shelf space than I do. Most of the books I actually own are out of print. It's got to be a pretty worthy in-print book to come to live at our house.
I think we probably make more money at our real jobs than we would as proofreaders, but I've had a couple of attorneys thank me for spotting non-spelling typos in briefs when I was in their offices for something else. Always a cool feeling.

At the meeting, Parker demanded that the school inform him when homosexual subjects are to be discussed with his son, and allow his son not to be included in such activities. He said he would not leave until his request was granted.
That wasn't the smartest way to go about it. The title of the article is misleading:
Father arrested over objections to homosexual curriculum in sons kindergarten class.
It should have read:
Father arrested for refusing to leave son's school.
And needless to say, the man ought to yank his son out of that school ASAP.

Hey, I agree -- unfortunately I don't sit on the Mass. SJC (though I've lived here long enough so that I could probably -- holding my nose -- write their opinion for them).

those who do not believe can laugh all they want BUT we are living in the "Last Days" and it will only get worse--the Evil in this world is attempting to take over everything good since it knows its time is short---if there is no God in Heaven, we are all in more trouble than we can believe---in my lifetime of 82 years, all of those younger have absolutely no idea of the changes in morals and lifestyle that have been imposed upon them to their personal detriment and the soul of this Nation---God Bless each and everyone one of you who read this and "God Bless our Troops"

We homeschool our 8 kids at about 100 dollars per child per year. In the public churches of humanism that pass as schools, it costs 10,000 dollars per child per year.

BUMP! Satan isn't creating billionaires of and empowering soul sellers just because he admires every mean as hell, teenie weenie shriveled up and ice cold soul that goes on the market.
Sometime, but not until it's too late, they will recall the scripture that says: "What doeth it prosper a man, if he gain the whole world and loseth his own soul?"

If you are going to involve heteronormative stories in school children's readings, it's only fair and sensible to include alternative home situations.
What a joke. "Heteronormative"? Hey, why not present cannibalism on the same level as non-cannibalism. It's only fair and sensible to include alternative dietary choices. Or are you too "cannibalnormative" to understand that cannibals are people too?
