Most of Mrs. Bush's humor at the correspondents' dinner was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But I think the stripper and horse jokes were totally beneath her.

Just put it to the other-shoe test: If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes, the conservative commentariat would be buzzing for the rest of the year about what a tasteless skank she is.

I am NOT one of those so-called "South Park Republicans" -- I do have a sense of humor, but I believe that not everything is a laughing matter. I believe that some subject matter is inappropriate for people who espouse morality. And while I have been the target of barbs like your ever-popular "Taliban" taunt because I am supposedly "holier than thou," I find that the SPR's are more angry at people who are offended than we offended are at the filth. You actually seem angry that our minds aren't in the gutter!

You know, Mike, I am a few years younger than Laura Bush, but my children are older than hers. I think my three daughters are getting older than I am, sort of like this Michelle Malkin. They expect us 50 plus women to just dry up and sit in our rocking chairs or something. Well, hey, I have news for them, we aren't going to do it. We are young and vibrant and we have a lot to say and do! The baby boom generation is quite different from any generation that ever came before us, and I kind of think we are unique.

But I digress. Laura Bush is an elegant, classy woman who knows her boundaries and does not need anyone to second guess her. I think all of this carrying on is nonsense.

When I first started posting in forums like FR I thought it would be more fun to go directly at the opposition so I would go on the liberal forums like Airhead America and beat them with an ugly stick.

Very few conservatives would even bother wasting time on them and I did get sick of them pretty quickly, I learned a few things while I was there and that is that the ones who really get into the forums take it seriously.

A lot of talk about secret locations to talk and plans to disrupt other sites. I wasn't aware of FR at the time and I never saw a post about it but it was clear they intended to cause problems on conservative forums.

The first forum I went to was Little Green Footballs and I liked it so I eventually found this site looking for more. Ladyjag put me in my place when I just started posting without reading the rules but I am better off for it. I posted a vanity under the wrong heading. I think some trolls are persistent even if in small numbers and it is getting worse.

Barb Bush is undoubtedly a very strong woman. Moreso than a Hildebeast or a THK. Any woman who has found favor in her eyes is quite formidable.

As for defending the First Lady, that goes without saying. She revealed a more human and earthy side that us common folk who sport a blue collar (or no collar) and who sweat for a living can relate to. A "letting yer hair down and whuppin' it up" side. Not an anal retentive, false-faced "proletariat" wannabe sort like the mentally scarred monied Liberal elitists. She, and W, are one of us.

That scares a lot of folks, on both sides.

I've only gone to look at DU once or twice and know that a lot of freepers left to go to Clown Posse but it just seemed like a site designed to make fun of freepers, much like the Biker Bar at Liberty Post, so I only looked over there a few times.

I barely have enough time to keep up on FR, let alone look at other sites, but the book that taught me what the left does to disrupt sites like this one is in the book Hillary's Secret War.
