MA: MASS. GROUP SET TO PUSH FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE
United Pro Smoker's Rights ^ | 5-28-05

Posted on 05/28/2005 9:42:26 AM PDT by SheLion

A coalition of religious and community groups will launch a drive today to put universal healthcare on the 2006 state ballot, in a proposal that would raise the cigarette tax to buy coverage for more people and would require all but the smallest Massachusetts businesses to cover their workers.

The latest on punitive action against smokers in Massachusetts for your information and dissemination:

"A coalition of religious and community groups will launch a drive today to put universal healthcare on the 2006 state ballot, in a proposal that would raise the cigarette tax to buy coverage for more people and would require all but the smallest Massachusetts businesses to cover their workers.. Under [Uxbridge Democrat state Sen. Richard] Moore's similar proposal, the state would add 50 cents to the $1.51 per pack cigarette tax, a move that might raise as much as $150 million a year.

Much of that money would be used to expand MassHealth, the Bay State's Medicaid program.... Nevertheless, the leaders of the healthcare campaign say there is a moral and religious imperative to make sure that every citizen is covered. Eddly Benoit, a church elder at Dorchester's Temple Salem Seventh Day Adventist Church, said that up to a fourth of the members of that congregation lack health insurance."

The ONLY way to get the attention of a politician is to stifle the cash flow.

EXACTLY...so, when do we start? (I need to stock up first.)

;*)

I just read your home page. I didn't know there was a FR smoking lounge.

Also, did I see a reference to you, on an old thread, as being involved with FORCES? If so, would they help with our plan? (#52, 54, 56)

LoL!

Copenhagen has crossed my mind!

I'm awaiting the day when we are asked to financially support government efforts to stifle the illegal transportation and selling of tax free tobacco products because of their own greed in taxation.

How ironic it would be to be taxed more because of illegal actions brought on my over-taxation!

I understand now what it must of been like to be a tea lover in the colonies in the 18th century.

The only good thing about this is the socialists seem to finally be trying healthcare at the state level.. instead of forcing it nationally.

Forces International covers world wide.  And Audrey Silk is a busy gal of late since she is running for Mayor in New York City.  Her plate is over flowing.

I have no idea how to round up the troops to implement something like that.  It would be more on a state wide level, I believe.

This is a good idea and something no conservative should be against. Let the states decide! Those of us who live in conservative areas don't want any outside liberals coming in and telling us how to run things -- lets afford those libs the same courtesy. Better they screw up MA than get this done on the Federal level and screw up the country. If they stay in MA, great. Complain when they come on down to Alabama.

About time to resurrect their mind set, IMO.

Mass is so screwed up now that one more thing won't make a difference in that state.

I'm just sick and tired of smoker's getting the raw end of every deal all the time.

We have to pay for medical care for illegals doing jobs Americans in MA don't want to do, hence the punish the smokers deal. This is coming for all of us, no matter what. If the feds think the One Hemisphere, open borders, travel freely within the hemisphere is still workable, let them ponder all the people who will trek north and south to the US for medical care they can't get at home. Not to mention welfare, free education, jobs, etc.. About the time the feds figure out that they aren't going back home to whatever country they came from, the states will be so far in the red, the feds will have to bail them out. Emergency rooms and hospitals closing left and right, well, with outsourcing, NAFTA and CAFTA sucking all those US jobs away, there aren't enough jobs left here to pay medical bills through insurance. Not and pay for all the illegals' medical problems, too. What's left? Uncle Sam. And close the borders.

Yes, a resurrection of memory as to who they are working for.

I just love the title "public servants".

They serve who gives and no more IMO.

Yes, I am aware of Audrey's business schedule right now as I stated. I attempted in the past to contact Forces unsuccessfully, but that may have been my problem at the time. My situation has changed recently so will try again.

Why not quit smoking? That would just ruin their day and would save your lives.

No...the UNITED NATIONS. Uncle Sam will be put to rest. Read very carefully the NAFTA and CAFTA agreements... If the feds think the One Hemisphere, open borders, travel freely within the hemisphere is still workable...
because that is exactly what they are about.
