SUSPECT, NOT A WITNESS?

That's huge! I'll look for confirmation.

Okay, and thanks. Interesting thinking going on at Fox right now. They think the FBI helped Aruban LE with forensics and probably with deleted computer files/emails. Armed with that, they arrested Papa v.d. S. and now can really apply pressure on Joran. Good news, and I feel much better now about the FBI scaling back efforts there. If they helped give the LE enough information to nail this down, they could go home and let the Aruban LE take credit for solving this. Fair enough, national pride restored, etc.. Of course, no sign of N yet, but we're still praying.

Joran van der Sloot, 17, son of justice official Paul van der Sloot, and his friends Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and brother Satish Kalpoe, 18, were arrested June 9, in connection with Natalee Holloway's disappearance, but have not been charged. Aruba Police Arrest Father of Dutch Teen

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Aruban police on Thursday arrested the father of a Dutch teen already in custody in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, the teen's mother said.

"My husband was just picked up by police," Anita van der Sloot, referring to Paul van der Sloot, said in a telephone call to The Associated Press. "I don't know what to think."

Right now Greta on Fox is detailing her thoughts, what happened, what she found fishy, how the stories didn't work...she even questioned Deepak's mother about their changing stories and if they knew how Joran got home from the beach that night. Greta is succinct, focused, and hard driving. No fooling around, and the Holloway family is lucky she's there.

I think I DO like Greta, it's the For The Record show that's been unwatchable, unending rehash of irrelevant celebrity show trials and missing persons cases (like this, frankly) with lawyers that I really don't care what they have to say.

I agree she's doing a good job. And Julie Banderas is... well she's just something. She reminds me of Jennifer Eccleston.

I do feel badly for Anita van der Sloot because I think that she is an innocent here. (With the exception that she assisted in raising an out-of-control man-child.) My feeling since very early on is that her son is guilty of a Robert Chambers type scenario, and that her husband helped him to cover it up in some way. (Probably assisting in disposing of the body at sea.)

Obviously, purely my two cents.

Excellent comparison, and they both resemble JR terriers a bit physcially, too! (A dog I love.)

I feel sorry for mother Vander Sloot in all this. As much as it is a nightmare for Beth, it has to be a nightmare for her as well.

We should stop squabbling with each other on this horrible situation, and pray that some kind of resolution comes for all the families involved.

Pray that Natalee be found, so that justice can be served, and the families can deal with the reality of the situation, and no longer be in limbo.

Like Howlin, I lost my oldest child (daughter) at about this stage of life, and how I admire Beth. I was out of my mind when the call came in that my daughter was dead. I cannot imagine myself holding up the way she has in this horrible situation.

Greta should stay there all weekend. She is hot on the trail of the truth in this case. She is doing a helluva job with her investigative reporting.

I think Greta has found her true calling!

I agree with your assessment.

I also think that law enforcement's decision to pick up and take Paulus away was the reason that Natalee's mother didn't show up at the VDS house with Greta for the second meeting.

I bet the police didn't know exactly at what time they would apprehend the father, so they quietly told the mother to stay away. The mother does not appear to be the type to not appear for a promised appointment.

Someone gave her the word.

Paul Van Der Sloot was arrested after being questioned by police as a witness over the weekend.

Judge arrested in Aruba case

Thursday, June 23, 2005; Posted: 3:02 p.m. EDT (19:02 GMT)

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (CNN) -- An Aruban judge, the father of a 17-year-old suspect in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager, has also been arrested in the case, a prosecution spokesperson said Thursday.

Paul Van Der Sloot is now being viewed as a suspect in the case of Natalee Holloway, a missing 18-year-old from suburban Birmingham, Alabama, Mariaine Croes said. He was arrested about 2 p.m. Thursday.

On Wednesday, Holloway's mother said more individuals "need to be pursued" in connection with the case.

Beth Holloway Twitty said she's sure the four young men in custody -- but not formally charged in the case -- have more information to divulge.

"I have no doubt that they know what and who and where and when and why and how. I have no doubt," Twitty said on NBC's "Today Show."

"The only thing I think there are some other individuals, though, that need to be pursued, and I know the local authorities are doing that and will be doing that," she added.

We didn't see all of Greta's interviews. There may have been some interesting things said by one or both of the VDS parents that Greta held back from us....telling only the police.

She may indeed be a Mark Fuhrman counterpart!

Note: House boarded up. Island homes may have hinged shutters on them in case of storms so they can quickly be closed and shuttered.
