Billy Grahm denies that Christ is the only way to salvation.
Radio Broadcast of Cross Talk America ^ | May 11 05 | Dr. David DiCano

Posted on 07/01/2005 9:55:00 AM PDT by Rhadaghast

May 11, 2005 Host: Vic Eliason Topic: False Doctrine Guest: David DiCanio Description: Dr. David DiCanio is Pastor of Columbine Free Presbyterian Church in Columbine, Colorado, and is involved in Christian Media, which produces television-style documentaries on religious trends and movements. Vic Eliason presents two audio cuts. One features Robert Schuller being interviewed by Dr. David DiCanio after giving a keynote address at the 2004 National Association of Evangelicals meeting. The other cut features Robert Schuller interviewing Billy Graham. The two discuss their views concerning how people are saved.

Dr. DiCanio interacts with callers to discuss the opinions expressed by Schuller and Graham and the current move of some leaders in Christianity to preach a gospel that teaches salvation apart from a conscious, biblical awareness of Christ as the only way to God.

"Tell me why this is inaccurate. "

I don't know that it is, but should people who don't believe in heaven feel insulted if you tell them that they aren't going to heaven?

I don't think that I would feel insulted if a Hindu insulted me by saying that I won't be reincarnated as a cow.

Heaven is specifically described in Revelations. Native Americans (Indians) might read the description of heaven in Revelations and decide that they would rather go to the happy hunting grounds.

Hmmmm. Inflammatory headline, no backup info except an invitation to listen to a couple of audio cuts (which removes all context from the comments) that will be interpreted by a talk show host....

Why do I suspect that this little blurb is full of crap?

I hope Franklin means what he says. The deception by the universalists goes something like: they are all saved by the work of Christ on the cross even though they may not realize it.

You have to REALLY test people to see if what they say, salvation is only through Jesus, is what they mean.

Question for you 'The Ghost of FReepers Past'...

If a person is born and due to his geographic location, he never has the opportunity to even hear about Christ, much less accept or reject him, do you believe his soul is damned for eternity?

It is one thing to hear of Christ and reject the teeaching, and something else entirely to have never heard of Christ and still not have the opportunity for salvation, even after death. Many have never even heard of Christ while on earth. For example, what about the innocent infants and babies who don't know anything of Christ - won't their souls be saved? I don't understand how this will work and I think maybe that is the context that Billy Graham is also thinking about.

Actually, it is a common belief in Christianity. A person must reject Grace in order to go to Hell. That protects babies and those who never hear the Gospel.

If you hear the Gospel and you do not say "yes", you are condemned. There is no "maybe" or "later".

If that is really what the fundamentalists believe then I could NEVER be a fundamentalist. It is certainly not what Catholics believe. And I don't believe it's what fundies believe either. Except for some of the made-up denominational (branch davidian) snake-handlers maybe.

Well, there is one place in the Bible where it says that if you were never told of the Good News, that you will be judged by a standard that only God can know.

Then it would be better to not have missionaries.

Ugh... I don't know if I have time to keyword search it right now. I'll take 5-10 minutes and try. It's in Paul's theology.

Respectfully, you just don't understand Christian doctrine. Consider this: Would a person who has never heard of gravity be spared if he stepped off a ten-story building?

Yes, yes...I understand that.

But what of those people that havent heard of Jesus? Thats what he is contemplating about.
Rev Graham specifically mentions tribesman that never heard of Christ. Then he discusses (to me it seems like he thinking out loud) that it may be possible for those to find a saving knowledge.

What I'm saying is that I allow someone to question their faith and question what God can and can not do. He is of course not the supreme authority on everything, so I allow him to fail as every man has failed. When he wants to think about Gods grace and how it affects people he's free to do so. When he preaches he brings people to Jesus and no other.
Do you think its not right of me to view this interview in this way? Just asking for your advice.

If that is the case, then we need to burn all the Bibles and tell all missionaries to shut the hell up - that way everyone will be saved.
