Infant Girl Left In Hot Car Dies
A baby was found dead inside a car Thursday after her father went to pick her up at her daycare and workers there told him she had never arrived, authorities said.
Gabriel Saavedra rushed out to his car at Storybook Nursery School and found his tiny daughter, Kayli, still strapped in her infant seat from that morning, police said.
Emergency workers said the girl, who would have been 5 months old on Saturday, was declared dead on the scene.
Not only that, how could he get into his car that afternoon without seeing her in the backseat?

Many, many. Especially if it was a surprise pregnancy and they hadn't gotten to a place where they could both stay home.
People put kids in daycare.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO INVENT AN ALARM THAT WOULD GO OFF WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND THE BABY'S SEATBELT IS NOT OPENED. IT IS EASY AND WOULD BE CHEAP AND WOULD SAVE LIVES.

That's what I am wondering also. Why did he not notice the infant while he was driving to the daycare??? Very odd.
Do not make this about the daycare center. This is a horrible tragedy. I feel terrible for the parents, particularly the father who will have to live with this guilt for the rest of his life. But ultimately the fault lies with the father.

Not only did he forget to drop her off. He supposedly didn't notice that she was still in her car seat when he got back into his car and drove to th sitter's.
Actually, I can see this happening. When my kids were little, we still put car seats in the fron seat. It was because of airbags that they were moved to the back. Additionally, they now have small infants facing backwards, and the drivers can't see the child. This may be safer in accidents, but makes them "out of sight and out of mind".
Poor upbringing, 'me generation', too much TV, I don't know. Way too many don't have what it takes to be good parents. Ya gotta care, and you can't be selfish.
The kind that have to work, and aren't lucky enough to have a relative willing to babysit, that's the kind.
parents of babies often aren't sleeping, are tired and get distracted. You know how you are driving and all of a sudden realize you missed your exit. It happens every year. I don't think they plan to kill their babies. And it happens to women too so it isn't a man thing.
I hate airbags. I really miss the days when your youngsters kids could ride shotgun. We had our best times then, talking and singing to the radio.
My two older kids were able to ride up front until we eventually got a car with an airbag. My little girl never got the opportunity. She has a horrible sense of direction, and I think it's because she can never see past the heads in the front seat.
Whatever rationale is given, it's a form of abuse.

Seems very suspicious, like he's trying to use absent-mindedness to get away with something nefarious. The mom may be in on it, too. I'd investigate it as a possible homocide.

I forgot my two year old son was in the back seat once. I just popped in to a store for 2 minutes and was parked right next to the front door. It wasn't hot or anything, but I still felt like the stupidest guy on earth after the incident.
I can't even imagine how this guy must feel. If it were me, I'd probably need suicide watch.
Another airbag death added to the ones that happen when a mother or father turns around to pacify a screaming child. It used to be so easy when all you had to do was reach right next to you and plug the pacifier back in the baby's mouth.
