You're certainly free to do with your time as you wish,
but I'd recommend the Air & Space museum and Smithsonian first,
along with the major monuments, the National Archives, Congress, White House, etc. etc. etc.
If you happen to get a glimpse of Dubya, fine...
but I wouldn't waste much time going out of my way for it...
there are waaaaaay too many other sites to see...

BTW... WELCOME!!!! Enjoy your visit!!!!!

Enjoy your stay! Go to Central Park. It's gorgeous.

And stay away from the tourist restaurants. Insane prices. Crappy food.

Go to a dumpy-looking bar on 46th and 8th called McHale's. Authentic (not manufactured) old NYC atmosphere, no tourists (other than yourself), and the absolute greatest burger you'll ever eat anywhere.

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay in our beautiful country. (Sorry NYC and DC are so HOT right now, though!)

Welcome! When you hit my hometown (D.C.) do NOT miss the Smithsonian museums (there are several, all located on the mall with the Washington Monument on one end and the Capitol on the other). The museums are free and fascinating. My favorite is the museum of American History.

Seeing NY and D.C. is a good start, but it's like saying I have experienced Italy because I went to the Olive Garden Restaurant once (which, by the way, was incredible).

Welcome to our (all Americans) home. I just spent two and one-half weeks in your beautiful country. You also have much to be proud of and much to be grateful for.

Welcome to the US! You will love NYC and DC. Lots of other great places to see, but thats a good start if that is all you have time for.

I would love to visit Italy some day. France, I will avoid like the plague.

Welcome to the US of A.

I hope you are able see more than NYC or Washington, DC.

If you have time in DC, you may want to visit the Smithsonian. I have never been to the Smithsonian, but it is my only reason for wanting a return trip.

From what I hear, I could spend 5-days there and barely see anything.

I must confess, I love ALL the smells. I also love the people, the commotion, the different languages, the genuine friendliness.... heck, I love ALL of it!

(But smelling roasted walnuts in the winter became one of my favorites. :)

We're back in Texas now, but my memories of the City always make me smile...
