"Did he or did he not kill a woman at Chappaquiddic" Ann Coulter
Fox News ^ | 27 JUL 05 | Self

On Hannity and Colmes, While discussing the requirements of a Supreme Court nominee, Ann just sarcastically noted that it was ok to kill a girl at Chappiquiddic. Colmes said that was a low blow and that comment was below her.

WHY??? WHAT is so darned SACRED about mentioning the truth???

Ann said, "Why..."

Colmes didn't answer, and the set was quiet.

Hannity and Reagan (another guest) should have spoken up.

This is another example of "The Emperor is NAKED!"

Is he out there boasting about it or something? It was an ACCIDENT.
I don't understand how some people can decide it is cool to torment those who have had the tragedy in their lives of accidentally killing somebody in a automobile accident.

I think it's despicable.

Hey Jorge, with respect, Teddy (member in good standing of the SENATE ETHICS Committee, did not drive off the bridge intentionally (no matter how DRUNK he was), the low point for him was saving his own butt and then waiting 8-9 hours to notify the police that an accident occurred. Perhaps his blood alcohol dropped a bit during that time period???? A man who has a tragic event, regardless of the circumstances calls the authorities...CORRECT??? People have ACCIDENTS all the time, however they do the right thing regardless of the circumstances!!!! Yes it was a tragic accident...MADE WORSE by Teddy's actions to save himself first!!! He never gets a pass for this....NEVER!

I was not paying attention to "national stuff" back then...I was at an age where the most important thing to me was probably where I was going to go that night for fun...

So I don't have memories of it...but I have read a lot about the incident...disgusting.

But the most disheartening part of it is the people of Massachusetts have voted for this murderer over and over again, and paid his salary....sheesh!

Did you have friends kill pedestrians while driving drunk?
Did they run over those people and leave them in a ditch to die?
Did they report the accident twelve hours later after the person bled to death?
Did they use those twelve hours in an attempt to clean up party evidence so investigators couldn't interview witnesses to the party?
If so, you need better friends.

I was hoping we'd harangue him till his liver explodes and is extruded from his ears. Pate on the left side and braunschwieger on the right.

" But that doesn't excuse the hateful meanspirited practice of some on the right of constantly parroting "Chappaquiddic"

LOL!!!! You've got to be kidding, right? The guy killed a woman while drunk. It should be *parrotted on the Senate floor every day Kennedy waddles onto the Senate floor to spew his communist drivel. No one is *discrediting* themselves when speaking the truth--even when it's a 30 yr old truth.

This tormenting him over her memory is nothing but a meanspirited nasty attack.

Don't worry your little head about Teddy being tormented...he has as much empathy for his murder victim as we do for you.

I saw the exchange and I believe she stated the ugly truth. It is open season on Republicans/conservatives but you bring up a statement of fact about an incident that occurred 36 years ago and the world stops? Why?? Whether the discussion warranted Anne's outburst is debatable but there was no slander on her part. I bet there will not be a lawsuit from the drunk on the fear that it may open up a can of worms. F'ck em all!!

The accident wasn't a tragedy. It was a conscious decision to leave a woman to die when action would have saved her. It was murder, for which there is no statute of limitations. To call it a tragedy is to suggest that the accident alone was responsible for this woman's death. That is not true. Had Kennedy acted instead of pacing the side of the road sorting out how to save his career, then going home, going to sleep, then eating breakfast, and then and only then calling the police, she would have just celebrated her 65th birthday. Whether you are tired of it or not is irrelevant.

>>I may have to TIVO the repeat. :) Thanks for the heads up.

Likewise. I generally can't stand H&C, aka "short attention span 'debate'", but will watch to catch a good vignette if I know about it.

TiVo set, will watch in the AM.

It was an ACCIDENT.
He certainly cared about this person far more than those attempting to torment him with the memory of it.

Jorge, you really need to be more informed before you try to debate this. Your only "information" is emotion.

Ted Kennedy cared more for this woman than you EVER could and feels 100 times as bad about her death than you EVER could.

And what better way to send your love than to abandon that special someone at the bottom of a body of water?

Your defense of Teddy is duly noted.

She does have the sting to be one. i wouldn't mind it at all if she were one. Wait, aren't we supposed to have pictures???? I'll post at least one.

Sorry it's not sleazy or attractive, but it's a picture of Ann.

"If I knew someone was trapped in a car in the water and likely to drown, I would try to save them. I wouldn't even have to know their name."

Amen to that. I would too. People who are dedicated to saving other people tend to look unkindly upon those who drive their car off a bridge and leave someone to drown.

Not only was the girl left trapped in the car by Kennedy for an eternity of sufering the knowledge that she was about to die while the car slowly filled up with water, it takes four minutes to suffocate, Jorge.

Stare at the second hand of a clock for four minutes. Don't move. Don't take your eyes off the second hand as it travels one revolution of the arc four times. Breath as slowly and shallowly as possible for as much of the four minutes as you dare.

Four minutes can be a surprisingly long time.

While it might have been an accident when he drove off the bridge, it was NO ACCIDENT that Kennedy left that girl to die in such a horrible way.

You're not going to change any hearts or minds by throwing a tantrum and accusing us of being insensitive about an accident, when it's not an accident we're talking about.
