Dobson: Frist Guilty of Betrayal [AMEN!!]
News Max ^ | July 29, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 07/31/2005 7:41:22 AM PDT by conservativecorner

Focus on the Family Action founder and chairman Dr. James C. Dobson issued the following statement today after learning that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., had come out strongly in favor of increased federal funding for destructive embryonic stem-cell research:

"It is an understatement to say that the pro-life community is disappointed by Sen. Frist's decision to join efforts to void President Bush's policy limiting the funding of embryonic stem- cell research. Most distressing is that, in making his announcement, Sen. Frist calls himself a defender of the sanctity of human life - even though the research he now advocates results, without exception, in the destruction of human life.

Story Continues Below

"Sen. Frist argues that under the Bush policy, there are insufficient stem-cell lines to maximize what he calls the 'promise' of embryonic stem-cell research. That statement continues the common misconception that embryonic stem cells hold the greatest potential for human healing and therapy. In reality, recently published studies demonstrate that some adult stem cells can form most, if not all, body tissues, just like embryonic cells may be able to do. Furthermore, there will never be a sufficient number of new stem-cell lines to satisfy the sometimes unquenchable thirst for federal money to fund pet projects of researchers. A morally sound line must be drawn at the beginning of this journey into stem-cell research: that no human life is sacrificed for possible or proven scientific gain - period. "The media have already begun speculating that Sen. Frist's announcement today is designed to improve his chances of winning the White House in 2008 should he choose to run. If that is the case, he has gravely miscalculated. To push for the expansion of this suspect and unethical science will be rightly seen by America's values voters as the worst kind of betrayal - choosing politics over principle.

"We urge Sen. Frist to reconsider his position in light of the values he has espoused during his career in public service."

What does MURDER of innocents have to do with taxes anyhow?
Taxes, isn't that one of the things Christ was persecuted for?
Not saving them from the taxes?

I will render unto Cesar my money not our children.

Why are Republicans hell bent on destroying themselves.

Don't the liberals do enough without our own leadership trying to split the party.

"You say you go to church but you then compare Christan's who uphold the word of GOD against the murder of the innocents to the murdering Satan worshiping Mullahs whom are also murderers?

You need to have a talk with the boss while you are there."

And you need to pay attention. I did not make the comparison that you allege. Apparently you think that the religion clause of the 1st Amendment applies to only certain denominations of the Christian Faith. The first Amendment, like it or not, applies to the free excercise of religion, not just Christian and/or Jewish religion. That is not my opinion, it happens to the law of the land, so deal with it. Don't get angry at me - take a civics class and really learn and read about how our republic functions. Then you can learn how to better work for your ideals to become reality.

ESCR is a front for abortion justification.

No, it's not.  Abortion is evil.  ESCR is evil.  People tend to oppose both, or support both.  But there is no real connection between the two.  And documenting the magnitude of the abortion evil is not relevant do a discussion of ESCR.
      Nonsequitor in discussions irritates me.

I just love your twisted logic to justify the murder of innocents.

BTW.. Until the Supreme Court was infiltrated with communists not murdering children was the law.

You don't fool me.

Where do you think there getting the stem cells?

Murdering innocents.

And if they find a cure for warts and use it to justify
using these cells were are they going to get more?
Murder more innocents.

You argue corrupt mans law.
I argue God's law.

How does a civics class relate to God?

Which one of us is right?

Abortion is a curse on our nation that was foisted on us by the left.
Ever heard of Armand Hammer or his relationship to Al Gore?

I'm not sure when conservatism started requiring placing freaking cells which are going to be discarded anyway over curing actual human beings of horrible diseases.
But for those of you all into the whole issue, more power to you I guess. Seems kind of fanatical to mainstream America though.

Tell it to Bayer when they used the results from the Nazi "experiments" with the Jews from WWII. I guess that in your twisted view, the Nazi experiments were ultimately good, since some medical help has resulted from the WANTON SLAUGHTER and TORTURE of humans!

Besides, o' "compassionate one"...the embryonic stem-cells produce TUMORS and CANCER...the Adult stem-cells are the ones that show promise!

But I guess that doesn't matter...here, suck on a fetus for Chris Reeves memory! It was only going to be "discarded".

Here we see Christopher Reeves in a private "treatment" moment...one coming to a Planned Parenthood in YOUR neighborhood!

Why not ask these self-righteous fetal stem-cell supporters if it would be OK to grab a liver from a homeless person to give Fat-Boy Kennedy a new one...after all, the homeless are simply "Discarded" humans lying around...

Where do you think they get the stem cells?

Why should Dr. Dobson, a licensed psychologist, be relagated to speak out only concerning a religious sect? Because he's a Christian and founder of a Christian enterprise? Do you know who Dr. Dobson even is?

Dr. Dobson was "an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine for 14 years, and served for 17 years on the Attending Staff of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in the Division of Child Development and Medical Genetics. He has an earned Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (1967) in the field of child development. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of California, a licensed marriage, family and child counselor in both California and Colorado, and is listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare."

I think Dr. Dobson has quite a bit of knowledge concernig the medical field.

As far as Focus on the Family, at his webiste, there are articles after articles, written by numerous knowledgeable people, concerning various social and political issues, not just religious, within the United States and throughout the world, for instance:

Is Political Islam a Threat?
November 10, 2003

Yes.

Some scholars have argued that political Islam—a plethora of different movements aimed at replacing the current political order in Muslim nations with an Islamic one—has failed to achieve its ends and has been disintegrating for some time. Hence, Gilles Kepel, professor of Middle East Studies at the Institute for Political Studies in Paris argues in his book, Jihad: The Trail of Political Islam:

The funny thing about medical research is, you don't really know whether it will work until you PERFORM THE RESEARCH.

Fine perform the research then. Using private funds. However, don't confuse me with those that believe the federal government should have say on this based on a moral issue. Frankly, I can see the benefit of using stem cells that are going to be thrown out. However, I don't support federal government funding for this or any medical research. It's a matter of Constitutional powers and what is specifically outlined in Article I, Section 8. The federal government should get out of the medical business altogether

90% of stem cells used in medical reasearch come from aborted fetuses.

Another nonsequitor.  Your link does not back up your assertion.

Its not non sequitor. The link shows which states allow (legal)
fetal aborted tissue research.
Multipotent stem cells come from
predominately aborted fetus tissue because unlike
embryonic stem cells which are are pluripotent they
differentiate into different cell types of their tissue of origin

I thought only humans (embryos) in petri dishes were used?
Why are you calming that aborted fetus use is a fallacy?
I will find my NIH data and post it for you.
Just as I posted the world abortion data.

BTW do you agree to growing human beings in petri dishes to harvest
their cells first and then their organs next?
It will come down to that since that I sincerely doubt
that all the stem cells in the world will grow let's
say a new kidney, perhaps. Growing full blown fetus's will be the only way to produce
Multipotent stem cells.(Tissues of origin).

He's NOT guilty of betrayal. The people who supported him were sleeping on the job. I remember when a Christian got treated like a liar by other freepers years ago for stating the obvious.
