KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- The director of a church youth group has been charged with sex crimes involving two teenage girls in his group.
Timothy Paul Rowell, 23, of Kernersville, is accused of statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child. He had worked at Main Street Baptist Church.
The incidents happened between April 20 and June 1 with girls between 13 and 14 years old, police said. The church suspended Rowell from his duties June 22 and he was fired a week later.
"We ... did not see this coming, and basically had checked him out pretty thoroughly," the Rev. Mike Willard said.
Rowell was being held at the Forsyth County Jail with bond set at $125,000
I thought this was only a Catholic problem? (sarcasm)
Well, the difference is, he is not a Sodomite like in the RCC, but he is still a rapist.
And, unlike the Catholics, he won't get to keep his job after this.

Obviously, this perv doesn't own an SUV or handgun, or the headline would have stated such...
The other difference is that this case won't get feature in the MSM.
It is one guy, so no. It will get local coverage, but that is it.
The RCC issue only hit national once it became a cover-up and it was clear it was a bigger problem than just a couple guys.
If Protestant problems start getting covered up, they will get more national attention.

You are correct. This fella has it for girls.
This is wicked and should be treated as such.
But just look at what happened. The 23 old was suspended and then fired immediately.
How does the Catholic Church handle these matters.
Usually a slap on the hand with some counseling, representation by a multitude of lawyers and protection by the Catholic Church from legal punishment.

Yep. Cases liek these in Protestant churches are isolated incidents and are simply not tolerated by said churches. This guy was fired promptly, and word about him will get out.
The initial sin is the same, it is the reaction to the sin that is different. First, they canned the guy. Then, he had to deal with the authorities and is now in jail. He will get his day in court, pay his debt to society, and will end up as a registered sex offender for the rest of his life. No protecting the scumbag and shuffling him off to a retreat or sending him to another church and sweeping the whole thing under the rug.
I guess, if the organisation fires him immediately, then no one can sue the organisation, like they could the Catholic Church.
This wouldn't happen if they let Baptist youth directors get married.
We had the same situation. It was difficult to tell if anything actually happened because the girl and her family were crazy but we let him go anyway. He got himself in a position where he couldn't defend himself (alone in a young girl's home).
Why doesn't that make the nightly news? Oh yea... because teachers and the media share the same poltical views...
If only the Baptist Church would let its ministers marry, this would never happen.

One major difference between RCC and Protestants; there is no monolithic Protestant voice. So if there were a prob, it would be more like a Baptist prob, or a Methodist prob, or fill in any brand you like. RCC has a singular heavy-handed style of leadership so any screw up on the part of the priests is a direct reflection on it's leadership.
This case looks a little different, in that there was more than one girl involved. One might be crazy, but when you've got a pattern of more than one, that kind of removes any doubt about what you're dealing with.

Note the phrase "reluctantly turned over" to the law.
The Bible teaches that sin of this sort should be exposed and dealt with swiftly.
The Catholic Church should not expect men to be able to live without physical relations, this is what causes the problem from the beginning.
Not one verse in the Bible indicates that this is necessary, a matter of fact, it states that elders of the Church should be married (of one wife).
Yeah but one is enough. Youth workers should never be in a situation where someone can make an accusation that can be taken seriously. That's why I don't drive the babysitter home. I work with youth and I have never been alone with any of them.
