War Plans Drafted To Counter Terror Attacks in U.S.
The Washington Post ^ | Monday, August 8, 2005 | Bradley Graham

COLORADO SPRINGS -- The U.S. military has devised its first-ever war plans for guarding against and responding to terrorist attacks in the United States, envisioning 15 potential crisis scenarios and anticipating several simultaneous strikes around the country, according to officers who drafted the plans.

The classified plans, developed here at Northern Command headquarters, outline a variety of possible roles for quick-reaction forces estimated at as many as 3,000 ground troops per attack, a number that could easily grow depending on the extent of the damage and the abilities of civilian response teams.

The possible scenarios range from "low end," relatively modest crowd-control missions to "high-end," full-scale disaster management after catastrophic attacks such as the release of a deadly biological agent or the explosion of a radiological device, several officers said.

Some of the worst-case scenarios involve three attacks at the same time, in keeping with a Pentagon directive earlier this year ordering Northcom, as the command is called, to plan for multiple simultaneous attacks.

>>General Tommy Franks said ,as he went out the door,..that we were "One terror attack away from suspending the Constituion" <<

I'd really like to read that interview or report or article where he said that.

You have a source?

These don't exactly sound to me like "war plans", they sound a lot more like martial-law plans.

This has got to be one of the most frighteningly irrational and warped posts I've ever read on FR. I can't imagine how you must loathe waking up each day in the terrible scary world you perceive. If this isn't sarcasm, I pity you. 28 posted on 08/08/2005 2:54:57 AM EDT by Once-Ler (

He said it as a warning, not advocating it. It was in an interview in Cigar Aficionado.

Thanks.

Issue number?

Date?

Knowing Franks, I find the comment interesting. He knows we are nowhere near that allegation. . .an allegation (warning) that reads better on a DNC web-site than anything else.

I would like to read/know the context.

"no one will be listening, especially the public, because they've been led to believe the threat is low. "

Better, they have been LIED to and made to believe the threat is low.

I no longer trust or respect this government. It is self serving and not interested in the public welfare. It is not interested in the safety of it's citizens who live within it's borders and it is definately not interested in upholding and defending the Constitution to which it is under.

It has in effect become the enemy of my people and my family. Until we get people in Washington DC that put Americans FIRST, this Government will remain my enemy.

I know what you are saying. That reminds me of a movie that Bruce Willis played in before 9/11 actually happened in real life. The Siege was about military response to terrorist attacks that took place in the United States. FYI, we were much more composed folks in real life than the Americans were characeterized in the movie.

Here's the original article. I think you'll find that Franks didn't quite say what others have claimed he said. It was more along the lines of "Another attack and the American people just might get gung-ho for a more militaristic government, and I don't think that's a good thing," not "One more attack and the Pentagon's going to take over the White House."

Haru: You ask questions with your answers embedded in them. This is considered a form of rudeness in our society.

I assume you are intelligent enough to answer whether plans for martial law are for the benefit of the people or the benefit of our rulers. Now perhaps you could tell us what your answer is.

Yes, there are a number of criminals and gang members who have sneaked in--but ICE started rounding up the members of MS-13 in the last two weeks, and they're the ones who are at highest risk for committing terrorist activities.

I hope you don't take full stock in that. Rounding up some MS-13 is a good start, but this FReeper is convinced that our enemy has done his homework and placed many of it's terrorists in the USA. If memory serves me correctly, they rounded up 56 members of MS-13 and in my estimation, that isn't even a dent in their numbers. I am an optimist by nature, but I have studied their tactics a bit. With about 30% of our illegal immigrants being OTM's, you have to believe that we have made it very easy for them to infiltrate.

Could you tell me what "ICE" is?

I was recently in the UK and recall reading something about making an entry in your cell phone and naming it "ICE," for In Case of Emergency contact so-and-so.

Seems it was in The Guardian. I always read The Guardian when I go over to the UK because it is simply the best comedy you can find in printed form. Absolutely hilarious. . .DU in a paper.

If a dirty Islamo nuke goes off in an American city, martial law would be in force immediately. Raids on Muslim enclaves and mass arrests would also take place. Habeas corpus would not be in effect. Attacks on Muslim terrorist supporting nations would also take place (I hope!)

ICE is a branch of what use to be the INS. On reorganization under Homeland Security they separated the functions. ICE appears to be the internal enforcement branch that goes out and makes the busts of illegals, tracks down the felons and so on. Basically the Law Enforcement side of immigration. Like the rest of the former INS, they are grossly understaffed to deal with the 20,000,000 or so illegals we have in the USA today.
We have allowed this problem to get so out of habd that they could likely triple the number of agents they have and still have trouble keeping up.
IMHO, this will result in thousands more Americans dying at the hands of terrorists.

Regrettably, those aren't aimed at the terrorists; they are aimed at the uprising and unrest from the citizenry.

You're not the first to suggest this.

More and more folks are recognizing the signs.
