"Move America Forward"; then Back Ten Steps - What was accomplished?...
theOneRepublic Jounal ^ | 8/29/05 | Eric Hogue

Now that the nation has experienced the "Battle of the Moms" in Crawford, Texas, what have the organizers of Move America Forward (California Congressional hopeful Howard Kaloogian) accomplished with this high priced media caravan?

What did they accomplish, other than boosting Cindy Sheehan's media attention when her saga was growing old and cold. The folks at Move'on and "Sheehan Tent and Awning" should send Move America Forward a donation check...nothing better than 'un-efforted' attention from the press. Just get the name spelled right.

Has MAF produced a desired result for the military, for the citizens of this country, or have the founders of MAF created another attention grabbing 'stunt' for their web site and future political campaigns?

What argument has MAF funded with this latest stunt?

What ideological core value has MAF offered America? That a majority of Americans are for the war against terrorism, and a little under half of the citizens are not? Didn't we know this already?

Over the weekend, I heard numerous anchors recite the same tag line after returning from a 'live report' from Crawford, Texas. The studio anchor, or 'anchorette', would simple say, "Emotions are running high on both sides". And they are right.

This latest stunt has done nothing but create emotions...[more]

When conservatives are involved it is always about the cost. Me wonders if he has considered the Cost in dollars for the little Cindy show? She is into fund raising, plus is backed by Soros.

We are the grassroots military militia at home....unarmed with weapons

That's better. And don't be so sure about the "unarmed" part.

Don't tell the LOONIE but I loved this photo of this older gentleman

If as it appears, he's a Marine Veteran. "Gentleman" might not quite be the correct description. Unless of course it was by Act of Congress. :)

We are the grassroots Military at home indeed, Republic, fighting against an Enemy that's now within...

And Freerepublic.com is our M-16.

If only we had had this tool to fight for Truth in the Media with 40 years ago...

So, why do you condescend to even speak with Californians?

I don't know how in the world you are reading that into my replies. Just because you are outnumbered by liberals in your state surely does not mean I am being condescending. And it sure as hell does not mean I think you are any less important in the battle against the left. We pride ourselves in dealing with the facts, all I was doing is pointing one out. That is not being condescending. Got a chip on your shoulder or what?

I was doing nothing more than pointing out the facts. We do that here at FR. I am absolutely sure Jim Rob would agree CA has a long way to go to turn it into a conservative state.

Right, and Free Republic -- this website -- is based in California. Are you always this rude to the host?

To begin with I was not talking to you in the first place. The comment was made by another poster that there are more conservatives in CA than any other state. This is absolutely false and a fact Jim Rob would concede. He is doing his best to turn this around, and not by being a total ass and attacking his contributors or other conservatives. So why in the hell are you?

I was certainly not trying to start some flame war, but merely stating the facts. You interjected and stated I was clueless. By backing up my statement with facts, that CA does not have the most conservatives of any state, I was merely informing you of the facts and posting a graphic to back it up. How in the world do you take offense to that? I think perhaps you are a little thin skinned due to your political situation. Please refrain from taking it out on someone who certainly agrees with your views as well as your plight. Living in Idaho I do not have to got thru what you in CA do. That certainly does not mean I think any less of the movement in CA, or it's inhabitants that wish to change it.

I meant no offense and I don't see anything in my posts that could be taken offensively. If you got the wrong idea I apologize, as it was certainly unintended. Don't call me clueless unless you expect to be called on it. I assure you I am not!

Now that that is out of the way. Could you please inform me as to how the struggle is going to get the disgusting artwork out of your Attorney General's building is going. The last I heard there was a petition delivered with some 3,000 signatures, asking the asshat to remove what is obviously some very offensive artwork against our troops.

This started because you responded to a comment that was not made to you. And the last time I looked, the topic is about moving America forward and why the Caravan was indeed effective ... the Caravan that began in California.

Sorry to disappoint ya.

after the Recall of 2003, it's obvious that a lot of the self-identified "Republicans" in this state are just Democrats who don't want to pay high taxes.

No, Prime Choice. ( by the way your tagline is hilarious) Too many CA pubbies were too weak kneed to fight for McClintock. They didn't think he had a chance to win and there was too much fear of Bustamante winning. Basically too many pubbies out here panicked instead of staying firm and steady to the goal with McClintock.

It was a shame.

No, Eric's position is that we should just let the leftists make fools out of themselves. He thinks that having large rallies like that makes conservatives seem immature.

It seems to me that Eric was involved in a protest in front of the Secretary of State's Office, I believe when we were trying to get rid of Gov Davis--so what are you talking about! I think he is jealous because of Mark Williams on an opposing radio station is involved. I believe it is envy--that's all!

And by the the way, I am sure that he asks Hugh Hewitt his opinion first because he agrees with Hugh all the time (e.g., electing Arnold and illegal immigration) for starters. Also, You all know how Rush purposely misprounces some words...like Scrool--Eric says it the same way. He also makes a rustling sound with his papers like Rush.

He is a nice guy, but he is barking up the wrong tree on this one.

Break that map down by counties and you see the REAL AMERICAN OPINION.

Maybe the wild spaces and large farms and small communities that make up America don't have the populace for an electoral win in each state...but they are RIGHT THERE....

And they are just just DYING for the liberal press and it's buddies, the elite democrats who keep the undereducated city masses fooled with their damning promises and low expectations (on purpose...ie, if the undereducated were allowed to see their retired savings accounts grow through compounding interest, LEARNED that if part of their savings were invested instead of all of it going into social security, they would leave the dem party so fast out of ANGER it would make your head spin!), the professors who do not know a WIT about real life and the hollywood idiots who believe their celebrity gives them supra intelligence (believing their own press like al-sheehani has obviously done already).....to take the great nosedive into oblivion.

A little truth, a HUGE amount of unbiased reporting, BOTH SIDES, would crush these liberal hippies who never grew up into the nothingness they already are.

"The comment was made by another poster that there are more conservatives in CA than any other state. This is absolutely false..."

You are incredibly good at making a fool of yourself. California does indeed have more conservatives than any other state, in fact, it may have more than any two other states. Why don't you run some numbers rather than looking foolish again?

So am I just supposed to ignore a poster that posts false information? Sorry, we just don't do that here, that is reserved to the opposition. He posted there were more conservatives in CA than any other state. Is this true or false? I might add that he never responded. He got his dander up misinterpreting another FReepers post. If it is false should I be a good little sheep and lay off you guys in CA because you're picked on or what? How is it you take offense to that anyway? I would think you guys would have a little higher flash point than that. You're the one who got the attitude, not me. I stated a fact, you called me clueless. Now I ask you, who is out of line here? All I did was call him on CA having more conservatives than any other state. I think we are all proud of our involvement, no matter what state we are from. How is it you thought I was running you down? I understand you guys out on the coast have a hard time getting lumped together with some of the idiots in your state, but that certainly was not what I was doing.

Are you going to update me on the lousy art your Attorney general saw fit to put in his office or not. If not, do you know of a thread that has an update. I would think as hard core as you appear to be about your politics you would be a good resource for inside info. Sorry if I get the wrong idea. You certainly stood up fast when you thought you were being slighted.

If you take the time to research my involvement, you will find I am very serious about my politics also. It is not a state thing, we are all in this together, I thought. The Caravan is the best thing to happen to FR all summer in my opinion. I have been soaking up the revelry on every thread I can find. That _itch needed to have it rubbed in her nose and I am proud to be part of any organization involved in doing so. I am also a contributing member of MAF.

The best way to show our troops that we will not allow the ditch witch to undermine their sacrifice to America is to band together and counter protest!

This isn't about Cindy...it's about showing our support to the troops and our President! It's showing our troops that we don't all feel the way she does.

Cindy is going to get coverage no matter what. --Hugh Betcha!

I think a different forum would better suit the pro-USA movement rather than slugging it out in a ditch on MSM.

I don't like being on the defensive when a good offense is available.

For only one (1) of many examples:

A highly publicized fund started by Move America Forward that seeks donations for the treatment of sick and injured Iraqi children.

I disagree, only that it may not be the "best way," but, rather "one way."

Nothing could undermine our the honor of our soldiers' sacrifice to America.

Allowing our troops to be degraded like they were coming home from Nam...that would undermine the honor they deserve!

CS is doing exactly that...she is spitting on the graves of the lost...and spitting in the face of the deployed! We have to counter that...we can't just sit by and allow it like was done before.

You can disagree all you want to...those of us who don't agree with you, will show our support to the troops in whatever way we see fit!

It it was just Cindy you would have a point.

I know and understand what you're saying. I just think we need alternatives to becoming part of the rabble.

Cindy has powerful appeal to the leftists. We are never going to achieve parity within their own ranks and, thus, should not attempt to strive for their (MSM) acceptance. It will never happen.

What we need is a unique, distinct, heart-warming movement of patriotic volunteers who will lead a cause which demonstrates USA's compassion and humanity.
