At this point they should push aside the Mayor. Hey I would be at least happy seeing them sitting of shore waiting for the order not they are on the way.
FEMA has some extraordinary powers in these times and they should use them, IMHO.
Well, I think the people would not care one bit about the details. I think the federal govt. needs to do exactly that...Take over.
"Where the hell is the Navy and the rest of the relief. I have been reading for over a day they are on there way. What is taking so long? "
Some guy was on last night saying that they designed the levees based on a CBA to only withstand a cat 3.
Anything else would have been too expensive.
Don't you know, we don't allow anything critical to ever be said about Bush on FR?

Well, I HOPE a few LIONS will
sneak up on the looter shooters
and take their heads off!
An elephant stampede would be
fun to watch running over
the looter shooters.
That mayor, and the governor...what incompetents. The governor only has the capabilities to lead a Garden Club!
Let me tell you how I suppose they get there quicker. I used to patrol those waters they are broken into blocks and there are allot of 378 USCG ships among the Navy ones in those blocks. If while you wait for the units you want on scene to take control usually there are others there off shore doing that until they get there.
To take a week for the Navy to get to our own Cities is ridiculous.
This lack of leadership may also have an impact the next time a major hurricane threatens the US and evacuation orders are given. Will people be more, or less, inclined to stay in order to protect their property since the state obviously cannot.
You are right. It is unbelievable that it is taking so long.
That is the impression I get from some of these interviews. Like no one will help me. Now don't get me wrong. It is indeed a sad situation. Obviously the ones left behind were the uneducated poor who had no where to go. But gee, it is not like they knew it wasn't coming. I think I should get a job in another business. I knew something terrible was going to happen prior to September 11, there was too many suicide bombings in Israel and it gave me a premonition of something of horrific proportions occurring in the next year or so. AND last May I went to New Orleans because I wanted to see it before it was too late. Ok call me a nut if you want to. I also told my husband we should sell some stocks before the market fell back in the late 90s. I told him that I told him so. ha ha ha . I also bought Lexus RX330 and felt like ok here I have bought this new vehicle and now the gas prices are going to skyrocket.
LOL... I don't do well following blindly.
I believe in the Constitution and salute the rank not the man in every case. All people are fallible and like I said I voted for him 2x and given the same choices would do the same. The borders are a disgrace and no one seems to have a problem bashing old GW about that. It may be that it is just the PR side is lacking here but it is seriously lacking.
Wonder if Soros would send his yacht to house some of the people? LOL

It would be even better if they used him to anchor his own yacht.
Wrong!
The plants would die, due to lack of water.
It's already happened.

The President is doing all it can given the limited resources and manpower and I don't blame him. Our resources and manpower are stretched thin as they're busy in Iraq right now, watching, I'm sure, this tragedy developing. Some have families in Lousiania, Alabama and Mississippi and can't wait to receive their orders to get back in the States and help their people. It's a matter of time, but they will eventually soon get here to help our own. Had it not been for the Iraq war these troops and the National guard would have been ready to intervene within hours. But priorities must take precedence.
