In reponse to MSNBC anchor this morning Nagin stated that he is absolutely blown away at Chertnoff's comments that he (Chertnoff) was not aware of the people in need of evacuation at the convention center. Nagin says that he does not know if Chertnoff said that but if he did that was a doggone shame. Nagin stated that FEMA was there on the ground.
Thank you for your clarifying post. Breaks it down well on the actual chain of command.
That GFDL track is the true worst case scenario for NO. Considering we are 4-5 days out, it will change... but, it's a bit creepy to see something like that predicted now.
Climatology suggests it may end up further west... which could bring it over waters that haven't been touched by a storm yet.

Well now this is getting really absurd. Sean penn is rescuing people in leaking boats, the Clintons have arrived for their phot ops with Jesse, and Oprah is on the scene. I wonder if they realize we don't want any of them on scene?

We now know the Biloxi /Gulfport area took the brunt of Hurricane Katrina's force. By all accounts 90% of Kessler, including it's military housing (where they lived), has been flattened. They escaped with what they could carry in their truck and trailer.
Is this thing right off the FL coast now?
Best post I've seen debunking the insane attack the MSM and Dems have launched on President Bush.
Although the Bush Administration has inexplicably chosen not to fight back, SOMEBODY has to or we will lose by default. You have done a great job providing the info needed.
It is unlikely to be read by very many people when it is buried in a huge thread like this. (If you post it as a vanity, please ping me to it.)
Perhaps you could email it to Rush/Sean/etc.
Where can I find his first three reports? I'm trying to keep personal stories from this disaster.
Yes, it's the system trying to organize off the FL coast. It appears a center is trying to develop this morning.
I've searched the threads for this and can't find info. There was a post about the law that says why the feds couldn't just go into NO and take over. It's some latin name. Does anyone know where I can find that law .
recon?
< That's the reason they keep x42 so close, he can't do as much damage to them if they keep a handle on him. Hillary is less likely to mouth off too, though it's hard to keep either of those 2 reined in. >
Keep your friends close...keep your enemies closer...heh...heh...heh
"I KNEW I shouldn't watch this...I am gonna need my anxiety medicine tonight!!! -----"
I know what you mean. I thought that over the days, the finger-pointing would stop, but no matter what station you go to, it goes on and on. The newscasters actually dwell on the negative......"What should have been done by the federal government? I'm sure there will be hearings on this!"
I can't watch anymore.
try post 652, then let us know if you still have questions.
Has the State of Lousiana surrender control of operations to the Feds yet or are they STILL holding out?
I like Mr. Patels attitude: "I just said screw it. I'm keeping them," Patel said. "The important thing is that they register with FEMA."
The Red Cross has become rather inept. In a situation like this, rules are meant to be broken. People want to volunteer, but they also have lives and responsibilities. Salvation Army is the way to go.
The Red Cross is going to come out of this with a big, black eye.
I saw Nagin interviewed on 60 Minutes last night. My opinion was "the man needs to put away the crck pipe"
