Mr. Bush's Storm [“ ...president deserves blame”]
The Washington Post ^ | September 8, 2005 | Editor

Posted on 09/08/2005 3:35:37 AM PDT by johnny7

PRESIDENT BUSH'S response to Hurricane Katrina has been, to put it kindly, faltering. He has fallen short both rhetorically and substantively. The rhetorical failure is less important but perhaps more surprising for a politician with his strong communications skills. One of the highlights of Mr. Bush's presidency, and one of the keys to his reelection, was his ability to rally a country stunned by the Sept. 11 attacks -- perhaps most vividly in his visit to the smoldering ruins of the World Trade Center. President Bill Clinton rose to an earlier challenge after the Oklahoma City bombing, using the bully pulpit of the presidency to reassure and console the nation.

Per Junkyard Blog:

BLANCO: LET THEM EAT CAKE
So the Queen of Denial, Obstruction and Delay, Kathleen "Antoinette" Blanco, made multiple decisions to deny the Refugees of New Orleans the security, food and water they needed.

Video link above. More from Major Garrett here.

I think at least one of Gov Blanco's decisions was made right about the time that "cannibalism" was being reported in the Huffington Post. Remember, she would actually believe what she reads in the Huffington Post. I'm sure Arianna will be concerned about this report now and call for her impeachment, just as Bryan, and now I have.

President Bush failed now in one way. He failed to ascertain that he was dealing with a governor who was a clear and present danger to the people of Louisiana. That's a tough nut to crack in a crisis, so I don't blame him. Taking military control over Louisiana to save Blanco's subjects from her sociopathic leadership style would have been helpful to some individuals for sure, but the problem is that such a move may have done more serious long-term damage than the Democrats have already done to the United States in this crisis. Can you say "military dictator?" Can you say "ethnic cleansing?" Oh yeah. Those charges would have come right from Hillary herself. Hmm...now that I think about it, maybe there was a political method to Blanco's madness.

So for the record, the JYB is 100% unified on the Blanco impeachment call on behalf of the remaining citizens of Louisiana. We've been discussing her role for several days and now I firmly believe she's the rosetta stone for decoding the post-hurricane NOLA Nightmare. And we still don't even know the half of it. I want to see all her communications with her lawyers, political advisors, Sen. Mary Landrieu, James Lee Witt (Hillary?), et al.

Her ethically-challenged Homeland Security Office should have been on top of the New Orleans Evac Plan too. Did Mayor Nagin have state emergency preparedness experts telling him they loved his bus-free DVD plan? Probably so.

my Mother in law is a prototypical AARP selfish senior who is a liberal dembot.

Over the weekend I also shut her down by pointing out all of the incompetence demonstrated on a local level, including showing the photos of Nagin Bus Co. fleet under water. I then asked her what would have happened if the Preseident was to upsurp Nagin and Blancos authority pre storm to get it together?

Game set match

Someone needs to tell this bonehead that just because the Washington Post says it, don't make it so. Not any more.

I heard on Fox and Friends that the nursing home employees evacuated because they were told that rescuers were coming in to get the residents out. Err Amerika is spinning it as Bush's fault for promising help that never came - Bush lied people died. Same broken record from those oxygen wasters.

Good gad. Now it's the federal government's job to evac everyone in an immenent disaster zone?

Question for the libs: Then what the HECK are our state and local taxes going for, you nincompoops? It's a state and local responsibility. So where the heck were they?!

Same for 100 found in a warehouse - workers were told evacuation was coming - it didn't.

Alot of people believe their lies. What amazes me is the politicians who fan the flames.

The problem is that the leftists and liberals are saying it is up to the federal government to come in and help. They cite law after law and regulation after regulation. They even say that the President can override the governor and mayor and send in the army. They are twisting things beyond anything I've ever seen. They are absolving Mayor Nagin and Gov Blanco by saying that Bush should have come in when there were problems they couldn't have handled and that the locals can't be blamed for being overwhelmed by the size of the disaster. No matter what happens, to them it will always be Bush's fault.

The sad padrt is that the the schools busses were deliberately not used because they had no air conditioning or bathrooms. They were considered unsuitable for evacuation purposes. Passengers would be too stressed and uncomfortable if they had to stay on the busses for a long period of time. The poor in NO were being too spoiled by their politicians. Where school buses were used, some mrons claims that they were adults and would not ride on a school buss meant for children. Idiots and a pox on all of them!

A compromised press... engaged in censorship, distortion & lies, that exists solely for the benefit of one political party ... does not constitute a free press.

Well said! This should be posted in banner form on the Free Republic home page.

The are hoping that:

A. They can make the make the case that everyone is to blame, therefore no one is really to blame.

B. They'll make enough noise to divert attention away from Blanko and Noggin and keep their base in line.

C. The public will get tired of all the negative rhetoric, throw up their hands, and not want to hear any more.

It's propaganda 101 and it may even work.

They have the nerve to say Clinton rallied that nation following the OKC bombing? Bullcr*p. He blamed conservative and Rush Limbaugh and then they have the nerve to call Clinton a uniter, not a divider. What a load of garbage.

"But ... but ... but I thought he was a moron who couldn't put two words together without becoming confused?!"

You KNOW the media is REALLY having to stretch, twist and pull to find some way to slam Bush, when they first must credit him with strong communications skills before saying that has been one of his key failures in this incident. Next up..."Bush's extensive and well documented military experience should have given him the skills to turn this crisis area into a paradise in less than a week."

I firmly believe that. Limbaugh has been commenting on it more often recently.

The leftist MSM is now spouting the opinions you can find at the Daily Kos, MoveOn.org, A.N.S.W.E.R. and a host of other 'radical' DNC527 websites.

Conservatives and Republicans are NOT fighting Democrats anymore... we are fighting progressive socialists who want to rebuild this nation from its own rubble.
