Major Garrett new blockbuster----Salvation Army efforts at supplying the evacuees BLOCKED.
Hugh Hewitt ^ | Sept 8 2005 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 09/08/2005 4:42:37 PM PDT by Dog

The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.

I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

I'm not sure why WE have to defend a President perfectly capable of defending himself if he would simply stop letting the press and the left use him as a punching bag.

After a while, you lose respect for someone who won't stand up for himself

Seems you have more respect for the press spewing lies, than the person who is in the crosshairs of the known liars.

Boy. You nailed that sucker on the head!

It's an inside the Beltway popularity contest kind of thing.

The problem is, that with only 13% of America agreeing with them, they'll LOSE popularity where it counts. WITH US!

If they were in the Landrieu family, you can bet they weren't shabby. I didn't see the footage you mention, but it sounds like her.

YES! More action, less talk.

Republic: "let's all email this Major Garrett story out to every talk show host and to EACH OF OUR SENATORS followed by a phone call...and our reps, as well.

Let's not assume they ALL know abou this, and let's let them know, in case they do know about it, that we expect them to do something...let's each do our part to NOT ALLOW the media to ignore this in their effort to hurt our President.

Our President needs us right now, let's all step up.

Yes he does. Here is the copy of a note I posted to every Republican Senator in the last 3 days. Senator: Call the Democrat's bluff. LET's have an investigation. But let's not limit our investigation to the FEDERAL RESPONSE as the Democrat controlled "News Media" is reporting. Let's have a complete review starting at the LOCAL level working up to the STATE and then the FEDERAL RESPONSE. Let's investigate it step by step just as the system CALLS for it to work The 1st Responders (City or County) The Second Responders (State) and finally the THIRD responders FEMA. Perhaps we can ask Rudy Guiliani to head the panel since he was a Mayor of the hardest hit city on 9-11. Perhaps Zell Miller and Edward Koch will sign on as well to show the same spirit of "Bi-Partisanship" as the 9-11 Comission did. Perhaps we can start by investigating just WHAT DID all that Federal Homeland Security money shoveled out to the State of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans for 1st responders and disaster contingency plans after 9-11 BUY us? It appears in exchange for billions in aid, we got a completely inept State and local Emergency Response team, an understaffed, under equipped local police and fire departments. A big expensive "Disaster plan" on the City of New Orleans website that tells us all about their plans for evacuation that they completely failed to execute. We also got a COMPLETE breakdown of local Govt and an inept State response. If what N.O. Police and Fire people were saying in "News Media" interviews is even partly true, all over the coutry the Fed Taxpayers bought a whole lot of expense "consulting" by high priced Democrat Activist owned Law Firms and local political activist groups and not much ACTUAL preparedness. What we saw in N.O. last week seems to support that accusation. So I say, Dems want a Commission? YES, we SHOULD have a Commission and Republicans should be taking the LEAD in demanding one. Let's rip the lid off this cesspool and see just what slithers out.

Just think, IF it was as is suspected, not only would they be getting back at Bush...but they would be getting "rid" of a bad area of town, with the poverty and such...how many speeches have we heard from Sharpton, Jackson, about what a horrible place these people came from...

I don't believe there was any evil scheme to get rid of the poor people down in NO ...

But I do believe there was a whole lot of incompetence and power control issues involved with the Louisiana Officials

They just didn't think this would all blew up in their faces and destroy the city

Also ... I do believe the Dems in DC have been waiting for an opportunity to dump on the President and try to impeachment for some time

And they will use the poor folks down there to do it

you've got to be kidding me. Sean interviewed Garrett today. He spent at least an hour talking about the State Homeland Security Office and then he doesn't bring it up?

I thought Savage was fit to be tied about all this a few days ago. Now everyone is doing a very good, efficient job. His shrink must have upped his dosage.

He is too busy being PRESIDENT to worry about what people are saying about him.

He is doing what is right......... as always.

We may not like that he doesn't stand up more for himself, but if you lose respect for him for being focused and steadfast, then the problem is with you, and not him.

So far the only two I can think of are George Allen and Rudy Giuliani. I do not care at all for Giuliani's stance on social issues and do like what I know about Allen so far.

I like both of them too. I also like Bill Owens though I admit I don't know much about him (social issues, etc.) but I was very impressed when he participated in an ACLU debate with a very hostile audience and held his own last year.

It may be her former Audience if she continues in this destructive mode. She may be in a tough mental situation realizing her own mortality, having no kids,no fiance and breast cancer. She may be on a real bummer, and wants to lash out. I know the dems blame GWB for their Jock itch for pity's sake.

When Kristol was on her show today, it was clear that the listeners did not agree with her criticism of the POTUS. She says that the admin. reacted slowly. Before long, she was down on W because he call the Administrator of "Brownie." Talk about petty!

She is too influenced by her coterie of inside-the-beltway pundits. She fails to see the distinct roles and responsibility of local and state officials as first responders. And it's weird because you'd think she get it, having clerked for Clarence Thomas.

I don't know. I'm hesitant to believe conspiracies. I realize there ARE some legit ones, but I'm more inclined to believe right now that this is the culmination of a Liberal world view that depends on "god" (government) to protect them, a world view where anything goes, a world view where there is no accountability and nothing bad will ever happen unless a Republican stares cross eyed at them. A world view where politics (a "D") and affirmative action mean more than competance. I think it's as simple as that.

I wish Sean would have jumped back with STATE homeland officials, not FEDERAL homeland officials... he missed an important moment.

Someone was trying to line their pockets with something

...or hide something. It was suggested on one of the talk radio shows (Glenn Beck) that "someone" seemed to want to keep rescuers away, thus the shooting of the rescue helicopter from the hospital roof. Either they wanted to hide something or steal something...or both.

OR The mayor & governor are just a couple of buffoons who couldn't get their acts together.

Absolutely, unequivocally UNTRUE.

And you base your assumption on ................ what? The ole Clintonesque art of spin? Just because you deny the result doesn't make the results untrue.
