Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

The media sicken me. If Bush takes a low profile, they say he is asleep at the wheel, detached, indifferent, etc.; if he takes a higher profile, they say he's getting in the way, showboating, compensating, etc.

Sunday weather is a tough call at this point. There are some reports that the storm may stall. Will have a better idea by Saturday afternoon/evening.

LOL - President Bush swung around when asked that question and I was almost expecting him to ask that idiot reporter if he was stuck on stupid. I really wish he had!

Pretty good chance DFW will be closed both days. I think if she wanted to go to Tampa at all, the time was yesterday.

Last night, wal mart was totally sold out of ammo...hell, they didn't even have B-B's.
We'll just have to make due with a about three thousand rounds. :-)

>>>Fox news interviewing 82nd Airborne commander Bill Cauldwell, says levee "structural failure, not just spillover". Concerned about levees on other side of canal.

My local radio just said stock trading is going up because Rita isn't going to cause as much damage as initially feared.

Dang, I'm glad I have another source for news.

I even checked these threads last night with the impression that Rita was breaking up. Remember NN?

I've already written and posted an article that's based on the inevitable re-flooding of New Orleans. I expected re-flooding to occur within three years or so, not three weeks. But Mother Nature is a b*tch. Click below.
