The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

"U. of Okla. Blast Apparent Suicide"
Updated: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005 - 11:19 PM

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - One person was killed in an explosion near a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night in what authorities said appeared to be a suicide.

The blast, in a traffic circle about 100 yards from Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, could be heard by some in the crowd of 84,000, but university President David Boren said no one inside the stadium was ever in danger.

"We are apparently dealing with an individual suicide, which is under full investigation," Boren said in a statement. There was no information about the person who was killed, and no reports of any other injuries.

A police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast. The area near the stadium was searched by bomb-sniffing dogs."

AFRICAN ‘WORLD WAR’ LEAVES HORRIFYING TRAIL FOR WOMEN
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)—one of the most dangerous places on the planet

By Mark Ellis
Senior Correspondent, ASSIST News Service

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (ANS) -- Twenty-year-old Mukeshimamba and her husband were awakened by ten militia men who crept into their village. After they killed her husband in front of her eyes, the men took turns raping her. She was seven months pregnant at the time.

“Mukeshimamba tells her story with no emotion,” says Esther Ntoto, who serves with her husband Camille as field coordinators for Light of Africa Network. “After they raped her one of them took his knife and said he wanted to see if the baby was moving,” Esther says. “He opened her womb and left her right there.” (Pictured: Female victim at DOCS facility).

The next day some women from the village found Mukeshimamba in a pool of blood. “The baby was already dead, but she survived this,” Esther says. “We have her on tape,” she says. “It’s hard to imagine she survived this.”

Over 3.8 million have died as a result of the conflict in the DRC, which some have termed “Africa’s World War.” This makes it the world’s deadliest conflict since World War II, with a death toll exceeding Bosnia, Kosovo, Rwanda and Darfur in Sudan.

Beginning in 1998, the conflict pitted troops from the DRC (formerly Zaire), Angola, Namibia, and Zimbabwe fighting against troops from Rwanda and Uganda. A fragile ceasefire in 2002—enforced by U.N. peacekeeping forces, has been violated by all sides, particularly in the mineral-rich Eastern DRC.

“The U.N. is there with some troops, but I don’t know what they’re doing,” Camille Ntoto says. “It’s still very shaky and unstable.” (Pictured: Esther and Camille Ntoto).

On September 29, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni threatened to invade the DRC to disarm Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels who recently crossed into eastern Congo. Museveni criticised the U.N. Peasekeeping operation and the DRC government for not "doing much" and allegedly allowing "defeated" rebel groups to rebuild strength in the eastern DRC over the past two years.

“One out of three women have been raped in the Eastern DRC,” according to Camille Ntoto, citing figures from the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Some suffer from fistula, a medical condition resulting from a tear between the birth canal and anal cavity. “The soldiers finish their atrocious acts by shoving objects into their private parts, leaving these women in a very bad situation.” The shame resulting from their infertility or incontinence causes some to be shunned and cast out of their villages.

The mission of Light of Africa Network is inspired by Psalm 82: “Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.”

The Ntotos live among the rape victims and disaster survivors, conducting Bible studies, individual counseling and prayer sessions. They’ve worked closely with Doctors On Call for Service (DOCS), who perform fistula surgeries at a facility set up in Goma. Some of the women are cared for in tents, but the Ntotos are helping to raise funds for permanent buildings, as well as transitional housing while the women are rehabilitated.

Esther and Camille worked for a Christian radio station in the Western DRC before they came to the U.S. to study at Vanguard University in Southern California. That expertise paid off as they helped to launch Radio ‘Sauti ya Injili’ or ‘Radio Good News’ in Goma. “Radio was used in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda to send hate messages, turning one tribe against another,” Camille notes. “But in the hands of God the same radio can bring restoration and reconciliation.”

Light of Africa Network is also partnering with organizations such as World Relief to bring micro loans and micro financing to help sustain families. “The goal is to help the people help themselves, and build a society based on Christian values,” Camille says. “We believe we are called for such a time as this.”

“It’s time for the church to rise up for justice,” Esther adds. “God is for the poor and marginalized. Together we can make a difference.”

BioTerrorismNews.com Special Alert 10/01/2005 # 1

BioTerrorismNews.com Editors Note: Apparently last weekend biohazard sensors detected Tularemia in the
Washington DC area. While there is no evidence this detection of Tularemia has any relation to terrorism it is
important to note a few things, Tularemia in aerosol form is considered a potential biological weapon, the detection of
the bacteria occured in multiple sensors, when there were large groups of people assembled at the National Mall ( a
suspected terrorist target ) during anti-war protests.
Further, there was a recent outbreak of over 400 cases of Tularemia in Russia, which was also blamed on natural
causes ( which may be the case). Once again we find it upsetting that the public was not properly and immediately
informed of this situation regardless of whether or not terrorism is suspected.

Al-Mu'tamar
Tuesday, September 27, 2005

Iraqi universities, which were among the best in the Arab world during the 1970s, are on the verge of a disaster now. Approximately 80 professors have either been killed or assassinated and approximately 1,000 more, in addition to 220 doctors, have emigrated since the downfall of the former regime in 2003.

Dr Tahir al-Bakka, former minister of higher education and scientific research, announced that many college deans are worried and have expressed fear and indicated that they might abandon their posts, causing a disaster.

Iraqi University Professors Association published a list of 75 university professors, who were either killed or kidnapped last year.

The armed groups responsible for killing and kidnapping university professors took a daring step when they kidnapped Al-Anbar University Dean Dr Abd-al-Hadi al-Hiti, and demanded a ransom of $60,000 for his release. Al-Hiti was the first university professor to be kidnapped from a university campus, while all previous assaults on professors took place either on the street or at the victim's house.

An official source at the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry said that it is illogical to continue conducting classes in such an atmosphere, especially when 13,250 university professors work in the Iraqi universities.

Al-Nahrayn University dean, who paid a ransom of $50,000 to release his 22 year old son, expressed concern at having exhausted all his savings to pay the ransom. The kidnappers went even further and gave his son a letter demanding him to leave the country. The dean is currently moving around with heavy protection. This is a testimony of the intention of these groups to destroy Iraqi universities.

Several professors wonder who is responsible for the threats. Some of them say that it is very difficult to speculate or reach a logical conclusion in this regard. One cannot presume that these armed groups are trying to liquidate a particular political, ideological or religious trend or sect because matters on the ground are different. The victims are not from any particular trend, sect, religion, or political group. The only link between them is their high scientific qualification. Therefore it is clear that the entire operation is targeting Iraqi masterminds and is a plan to empty Iraq of its intellectual property.

Professors indicate that a large number of professors have been leaving Iraq despite their high salaries. This reminds one of the large-scale emigration of university professors under the former regime, due to low salaries. They emphasize that Iraq and Iraqis will loose a great deal of Iraq's enlightened skills and intellectual property, Iraqi universities will face a shortage of qualified professors, and several courses and departments will be closed as a result, if Iraqis do not help stop this bleeding.

In a related issue, an official source at the Health Ministry indicated that more than 30 doctors were killed recently, while over 220 doctors were forced to leave the country. Several more doctors were kidnapped. The source affirmed that the ministry has demanded protection for doctors, in order for them to be able to perform their humanitarian duty.

An official source at the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry confirmed that over 2,000 professors and doctors have emigrated, forcing the ministry to close more than 152 postgraduate branches. The source added that most of those who have emigrated, have settled down in Jordan and Syria. He added that the Syrian Government inaugurated a special hospital recently, to employ Iraqi doctors. In addition, Syria is receiving a large number of highly qualified university professors. The source expressed concern and wondered who is behind this conspiracy to empty Iraq of its scientific and medical wealth.

I second the "he's an idiot remark" What person committing suicide is going to blow themselves up in a parking lot?

What's going on in Roswell?

This dog flu thing really concerns me, I'm gonna have to call the vet and see if anything has been reported here.

Also, I just heard on the news they are reporting the bombing in Ok as a suicide. That's very bizarre since there was more than one explosive device. Why?? I mean how many times can one person blow himself up? We get a lot of Ok news, so I will try to find out more.

A very good synopsis from the Ok thread. Thanks to Peach..posting here for our records and discussion. [I second the GO Yankees tagline :)

1. Bomb blast shook the stadium. That is NOT a pipe bomb.

2. Cell phones and instant messaging did not work for some period of time. Reason unknown.

3. A Persian girl witnessed two middle eastern men running away immediately after the blast.

4. A second bomb was detonated by police.

5. PhiKapMom's son's friend was so close to the blast his face was red.

6. At least five people were injured, despite the press reporting that no one was injured.

I know that OKC has a huge presence of former Iraqi Republican Guard. The first President Bush made a deal with them if they would stand down during the First Gulf War, they would be relocated to the US.

The book The Third Terrorist by Jayna Davis is an absolute MUST read and she details just how much terrorist activity/planning has occurred in the area.

For instance, it is known that some of the 9/11 hijackers stayed at the same motel as the terrorists who worked with Nichols/McVeigh; the Cactus Motel, I think.

If Jayna Davis is still reporting for a local newspaper there, look for follow-up stories under her byline about this latest incident.

Good morning folks. Clyde's been walked, the neighborhood is quiet, I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee, and the TV is still off so I can enjoy a quiet morning.

STRICTLY MY OPNION:
Last night we witnessed the first attempted homicide bombing on US soil. By God's good graces, it failed.

We've entered the next phase of this war. It's a shame that most folks don't realize that sad fact.

I'm locked and loaded, supplied, alert, and ready. Will try to say here if at all possible. Building is easy to defend, tall (for sniping positions), and my supplies are here.

Prayers up for a uneventful day of football watching fun.

If what they did report was fairly accurate, then as I posted above how many bombs does one need to commit suicide and not hurt anyone else. With two or three explosives there are only two scenarios I can think of one being terrorist/foreign the other being terrorist/domestic with a vendetta against the school. I'm sure the police know who the guy was by now.

Remember BL threatening to kill millions of American children? I guess college students would still be considered children.

We are self sufficient here as well, generator, well water and supplies including guns.

There is also a very large race in Talladega this afternoon, I'll be watching away from the computer.

Speaking of gross ... OT, but since food consumption in China was discussed earlier, this excerpt might be of interest; some humor writes itself ... since nothing is ever wasted in China, we can only hope it was tiger urine:

Eatery Serves Tiger Meat ( Actually Donkey Meat Laced with Tiger Urine )
Ace of Spades HQ ^ | 9/8/2005 | Li Fangchao (China Daily)
---

When asked how the restaurant obtained the tiger meat, a waiter replied that the owner of the restaurant had good connections within the tiger park and could get the meat of dead tigers.

The tiger-meat story published in a local newspaper has created shock waves.

Police subsequently raided the restaurant and confiscated the so-called tiger meat.

After inspection, the owner, Ma Shikun, confessed that the so-called tiger meat was actually donkey meat that had been dressed with tiger urine, to give the dish a "special" flavour
