The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

I meant having second thoughts about taking others with him. Maybe he was sitting on the bench mulling over what he was about to do, couldn't go through with it and just ended it right there.

Good morning Gentlemen.

I'm calling the Oklahoma bombing our first suicide bombing on US soil. Would call it a homicide bombing but the only one that died was the bomber.

Reports seem to indicate the bombs were to be attached to the buses carrying students which would fulfill the threats to our kids.

On line of reasoning as to why the first bomb when off prematurely is that the bomb was to be detonated via cell phone and someone dialed the wrong number and BOOM!

I'm still trying to find reports of damage to determine the magnitude of the blast. FReeper eyewitness reports indicate that the blast was extremely large which would rule out a small pipe bomb. I'm still waiting on damage assessments. Will pass them along when/if they become available.

Lots of folks are curious/spooked/nervous about the MSM's lack of interest in this story. Cover up? Trying not to panic the sheeple?

Rama-Dama-Ding-Dong starts tonight so we all need to be physically and mentally ready for what may be heading our way.

On a positive and comforting note, every pickup truck I saw this morning on my way to out of town had shotguns or rifles in the gun racks. Seems country folk have heard the news and have prepared accordingly.

I still think the terrorists will go after large population centers. The problems for the folks out my way will be the refugees from demolished cities.

OPINION-SPECULATION - If the top half is missing, it makes one wonder if he was wearing a bomb vest.

The London bombers as well as the Bali bombers were wearing your generic backpacks. Would do the job as well as a vest, be less noticable and easier to construct.

It sounds like they can go in cold water. But it also says they use sea lions. And they are called anti swimmers.

Actually, I was responding to the quote above. Yours, yes? In any case, it's no big deal.

This sermon delivered in Syria on Friday September 30 is one that we all need to read. Note Shaykh Bashir Id al Bari's comments. I'm putting the relevant quote in bold for emphasis.

Damascus Syrian Arab Republic radio in Arabic, official radio station of the Syrian Government carries at 0946 GMT a live sermon from President Hafiz al-Asad mosque in Damascus.

Shaykh Bashir Id al-Bari, mufti of Damascus, delivers the sermon in which he hails Ramadan as a "beloved guest," in which "the doors of paradise are opened and the doors of hell are closed and the devils are chained."

He says: "Here is the month of Ramadan. It will be received by whoever sees its moon. Let him receive it in the best manner with sincere repentance and righteous work that pleases God and His messenger."

The imam notes that some people consider Ramadan a month of rest. "Yet in the history of Islam," he says, "Ramadan is a month of hard work, jihad, earnest effort, and perseverance. In fact, we can call it the month of heroes and heroics." He recalls the battles fought by Muslims in the month of Ramadan, including the 10 Ramadan or 6 October 1973 War.

I noticed that on Drudge earlier today. Unfortunately Drudge remove the photo when I went back to try to get a link.

**Update on OK Suicide/Homocide University Bomber**

Law enforcement sources close to the Northeast Intelligence Network have confirmed that search and seizure warrants were served today upon the residence of the “suicide bomber, 21-year-old Joel Henry Hinrichs III of Colorado Springs, CO, who was a resident of the Park View Apartments on campus. Speaking strictly “off the record,” the officials stated that they recovered “a significant amount” of Islamic “Jihad” type literature, some possibly written in Arabic, along with the suspect’s computer. Some of the documentation included material on how to construct bomb-making vests.

'Mornin' A_D! I wouldn't attribute the sight of rural shotguns and rifles to an anti-terrorist mindset. Remember it is hunting season, too. If you see lots of AR's and M1A's then I'll feel comforted.

More background and analysis on the Bali bombings:

Police believe that two Malaysians, Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Mohamed Top, were responsible for the October 1 attack. The two men are known members of Islamic terror group Jemaah Islamiyah, and were believed hiding in Indonesia. In the last three years, the government came down hard on Jemaah Islamiyah, arresting nearly a hundred and prosecuting, convicting and jailing most of them. But the government did not try to wipe out Jemaah Islamiyah, fearing that this might trigger a civil war with Islamic conservatives. That may change. Islam in this part of the world is rather milder than what is found in the Middle East. But over the past decade, the more militant form of Islam found in the Middle East has become more popular in urban areas of Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. Because of that, the government was able to defeat Jemaah Islamiyah, both in terms of finding and arresting Islamic terrorists, and defeating Islamic militias that were attacking non-Moslems in the country. Bali, for example, is largely Hindu, which is one reason it has been the target of Islamic terrorists.

The government got a lot of public support after the 2002 attacks, which had emotional, and economic (by hurting the tourist trade) impact on most Indonesians. The police received enough tips to track down and capture most members of Jemaah Islamiyah. Another surge of public support for the police is helping in the search for those responsible for the October 1 attack. This is likely to result in more serious damage to Jemaah Islamiyah. After the October 12, 2002 attack in Bali, there was another in December, 2002 that killed three. There were three attacks in 2003, that killed twelve. In 2004, there was only one attack, that killed tem. Earlier this year, there were two attacks, killing 19. Since that first bombing in 2002, most of the dead and wounded have been Indonesian, even though Jemaah Islamiyah says that it is making war on foreigners and infidels (non-Moslems.) Most Indonesians don't believe this, and see Jemaah Islamiyah as a bunch of homicidal maniacs. Jemaah Islamiyah was never a very large organization, with no more than a few hundred core members. Fewer than a hundred are still at large, and most are expected to be rounded up in the next few months. Islamic terrorism has proved to be very unpopular in Islamic nations, turning more and more Moslems, including conservative ones, against the terrorists. Jemaah Islamiyah would like to attack non-Moslem targets, but they have not been able to, and in desperation have made attacks that kill mostly Moslems.

October 1, 2005: On Bali, three pedestrian suicide bombers killed themselves, and 23 others in the tourist areas of Bali island. Islamic terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah is suspected, as there have been many warnings from the government that more terrorist attacks were in the works. Bali had increased security, especially to deal with car bombs. But suicide bombers on foot were another matter. Three years ago, a car bomb attack in Bali killed 202 people, many of them Australian. This time, most of the dead and wounded were Indonesian.

UNLESS somebody ELSE wired him into the bomb and set a boobytrap to prevent such a case.
That is where I was going with the theory of him being unconscious.

When it was stated that there was nothing to the body above the waist, I was wondering if sitting on a bench would be the cause.

I've got some thoughts on that tape posted on my blog from a few weeks ago if you want to look at it. It was definitely a step upward from his earlier ones.

LOL, come to think of it (hard for a Monday AM before the caffine hits the brain), it probably was your blog that I read on this on.
