From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

That would make sense as there are buses all around that part of campus on game days. That's scarey. They made an announcement for all bus drivers to get their buses moved. I know they checked out all the K-State people before they got on the bus. Buses make more sense because the stadium is reinforced concrete and it would take a tremendous amount of impact to do much damage I would think. But the number of buses that are parked around the oval are a lot.

Cannot imagine what would have happened if he (they) had been successful planting the devices. I refuse to believe he did it by himself -- that makes no sense.

Thanks for that clarification. I am from India and I was shocked to see the active muslim presence here in the USA when I first came here 6 years ago. At my previous university (in the South), these neanderthals had an active mosque going and their women went around distributing Korans all the time. Sometimes, my anger boils over at their "in your face" attitude but I have to keep in mind the unfortunate fact that I'll be the one who is punished by the PC cops if I even say one critical word.

"Six members of the Brothers Under Christ fraternity dressed in white T-shirts, each with a red spray-painted Superman and white capes couldn't walk a few dozen feet beyond the barriers to retrieve their bicycles at the stadium.
They decided to walk a mile back home and get their bikes today."

What a wierd inclusion in this article..what is the point? I am sure there were a few other 'fraternities" spray painted with colors and symbols as well... walking past and milling about. MSM at work..let's lay 'suspicion' on the Christians.Good grief..

Cross I don't think is 100 yards from the stadium area where the new bookstore and parking garage are located. It is directly across the street.

"They usually give passes for halftime but not tonight.

Mom~ Has there ever been an instance that you recall when they did NOT issue passes for halftime? If so, do you know the reason for not issuing them?

He left before halftime and had a pass -- they locked it down after the explosion. He didn't return to the game.

Detectives work on hunches all the time in order to pursue further knowledge that either works with their theory or rules it out. The events mentioned by eyewitnesses so far cause me look for evidence that rules out a terrorist act. I haven't found it yet. Until I find the something to undermine this as a terroist act, then it we'll remain a working theory. I'm simply "tapping the stone" to find the cracks.

Thanks for the welcome! I was on the Hurricane Rita threads as my first foray into actually posting. Told everyone I think of all y'all as rock stars, because I haven't spoken up and y'all aren't shy about it!

It was my birthday and I thought I was probably going to die in the hurricane (not to be melodramatic or anything), so I thought it important that I go out as a real FReeper.

(Didn't even lose power, much less get any flying debris. Didn't actually get the hurricane at all--but I didn't know that 12 hours before!)

Thanks so much for your posts tonight! I really think the whole situation is much more than they're letting on through the news. Perhaps (hopefully) the authorities involved are getting the facts together and will report when they have a clearer picture of what went on? Honestly, I don't know what or whom to believe when it comes to "news" in the MSM these days...

Of course he didn't (miss a beat, that Bob Barry!). But I think a bomb explosion would've at least rated a "Jeeemineee Chrisssss-musss!" from our former announcer!

The DUmmies have just posted a headline suggesting exactly the same thing (that the Christian fraternity had something to do with it). With countrymen like these, you don't need muslims.......

Let me try and explain how OU is laid out. You come in on the east side of an oval on the street -- other side is blocked off. It is like a large area of trees, fountains, flower beds, benches to the west of the street and then it goes around Cross then in front of the Price Business School and the street comes out on the east side of Cross and west of the stadium complex. On game days, buses are parked all around this oval from buses used by the visiting teams to buses used from the malls to transport people to the game. There are quite a few buses around the new oval on game day. Attaching devices to buses and detonating when they are filled would injure a good number of people.

The cops on the scene think that the bomber was trying to attach the bombs to the parked buses when a bomb detonated before he could do so.

Now we know what Nagin will say. "We didn't use the buses to evacuate because there were rumors they had bombs attached to 'em by the same folks who bombed the levee."

I had reread some of your posts tonight. You said something about scanning of tickets. Do you mean they run a handheld barcode scanner over each ticket before people enter the stadium?

Also, what type of search does OU game management usually do? Do they make you open purses, bags, bulky jackets, etc when it gets colder?

It was not a work accident unless this person got killed in his work of being a bomber. This was not something that just happened in a chem lab. There were multiple bombs.
