Saw this Frontline special on PBS just now... at times I wanted to scream at the TV. Other times, I wanted to cry because I had no voice to scream. I had to sit and watch the racism card played again.
"In the end, perhaps the best for reconciling opinion on both sides is the view expressed by USC professor Todd Boyd, which emphasizes class over race:
"Do I think that O.J. murdered those two people? Yes. Do I think he got off for it? Yes. Do I think he's the first person to get away with murder in America? No. He got the same breaks that a rich white man would get because he could buy them, and that's the bottom line.""

Sounds like a good ol' fashioned PMS special.
It's called "Fire up the liberal voting base."
wow, hard to believe it's been ten years already.
I remember the next day I called in sick and watched Oprah. She had one of the jurists on the show and Oprah literally had to re-interpret every questions because the jurist was dumber than a box of rocks.
I always thought he got off because he had a jury that was dumber than a set of garden tools.
Most disturbing was footage taken in a black-only barber shop, with the barber asking his customers (15 or so) if they thought O.J. killed the two white people. All but one or two raised their hands. But they all excused him based on the white racism of the American judicial system, saying the black man got one over on whitey.
Two people dead, and they consider it a victory for the race.
Sick.
Uh huh, and OJ is still searching every golf course in America looking for the "real" killer(s).
Rich white guy..Teddy Kennedy.....
Rich white guy..Teddy Kennedy.....
Or any dem with money. The double standard keeps conservatives from getting a pass.
Well, he may have avoided responsibility for his actions in this case in court, but I truly believe he will be held responsible for his actions at a higher level after he passes on. The good Lord knows what happened. He will judge Mr. Orenthal Simpson and will levy the appropriate punishment. I take comfort in that.
It wasn't easy. I strive to be open-minded and cool. And in REAL LIFE it isn't that hard. I have BLACK and NEGRO friends.
I dated a BLACK girl (and a latino girl and a Japanese/Indian mix and a full-blooded Mexican) and she'd drag me to Indian festivals (back in the 80s)... she had a baby boy and we'd kid each other about whether he'd be raised black or white (neither of us cared about the point... it was almost forplay. The argument leading to sex)
But the freaking media portrays people like me as the enemy. White and decendant of slave-trading bastards. Wrong.
My family had nothing to do with the slave trade. If reparations ever become law, can I sue those who benefit from reparations? I can trace my family tree to 1700s Ireland & Germany. We were in America long before Hitler came along (about 1880), but people still point out the German in me, as if I'm related to Nazis.
Oh well.
