Rove Makes Fourth Grand Jury Appearance By PETE YOST, Associated Press Writer 5 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Karl Rove walked into the federal courthouse Friday for a fourth grand jury appearance in the CIA leak probe, following public disclosure of his conversations with two reporters about the identity of a covert officer at the spy agency.

It's almost like the MSM doesn't want to touch your question because the drama will go away.

The other fundamental question is Was Joe Wilson's Op ED piece classified?

It seems to me if true Plame was not covert the Grand Jury went in a different direction some time ago. If this is true the only ones still investigating the WH is the MSM.

I find it highly unlikely, with two weeks to go in the GJ, that Rove's attorney would allow Karl to testify knowing whatever he says now that contradicts what he has testified to before could be used against him at trial.

It would be unlikely for a regular witness. But political considerations factor in here and it would not look good if Rove, all of a sudden, started invoking a Fifth Amendement right not to testify.

Here's the thing... This whole "controversy" has already accomplished it's goal which is to give a black eye to the White House, whether there was any wrong doing or not.

I heard someone say recently (paraphrasing) "It's like going to the doctor and having him tell you that you have cancer. Then he goes prepares for surgery, cuts you open and finds nothing. You're sown back up, but are stuck with that scar for the rest of your life."

That says it all... Abu Graibgate, Gitmo Toiletgate, DelayGate, Fake TurkeyGate, Fristgate, Katrinagate, etc. etc. etc. (not important, you know the list) are all just the same bs. They are intended not to actually prove anything, because they know they are bogus, but the suggestions do all the damage they need.

That being said, here's my prediction. No one will be indicted on the "leak", because as it seems, based on the law, and even particularly the woman who wrote it's own account (that I've heard multiple times), there was no "leak"/law broken. What will happen is there will be pressure to indict on some slight discrepency in testimony and they'll probably indict Rove... it will linger around for another year just enough to keep hurting Republicans, only to be tossed out, and barely mentioned in the media when he's cleared.

Opposite of what happened with Berger... This prick totally admits what he did later on, is convicted of it and gets off with a slap on the wrist and we still have no clue what was on those papers, other than his foot sweat from being stuffed in his socks. (I still maintain the theory it may relate to Able Danger btw.)

It is my understanding from another thread that targets rarely testify

Prosecutors almost never indicate a person is a target until minutes before they indict them. It is much easier to label them witnesses or suspects, and then entice them to testify in front of the grand jury in hopes that if you can't get them for the original crime, you can at least get them into a perjury trap or obstruction of justice charge.

I can almost guarantee you that nobody has received a target letter and nobody will until the day the indictments are announced.

Thanks for your reply. So my question is valid and it's not that I have been 'out to lunch' on this. In that case, I think they are just so hungry to get anyone up to and including President Bush that they are fishing. You can see that at DU. I wish someone would slap them down or at least just ignore them.

Who says the reporters didn't perjure themselves in their push for their agenda? Those latest Judith Miller notes...conveniently jotted on the margins of a Red Sox World Series program. (Nicely dated.) Too convenient for words.

Well, those talking heads on news channels are always saying you "can indict a ham sandwich". An indictment is easy to get. The problem for the administration is at this point if Rove get's indicted it would cause more blood loss from an administration already bleeding out over all kinds of issues.
I still think Wilson was his own leak. But hopefully time will tell.

The real target is Bush, whom the dems want to impeach.

what's gonna happen?

The grand jury will expire and Chrissy Matthews will lose (or is that loose?) his show since there are no other topics he wants to cover.

Yes, of course, I read DU so I know that, but they need to look under another rug. This is making them look stupid. Oh yeah, they ARE stupid or they wouldn't be dimOcrats!

I have this feeling that Karl Rove had taped his phone conversation with Matt Cooper from Time Magazine and he was waiting till the end to give it to the Grand Jury and prove that he was totally innocent from this whole CIA leak “non –story”.

That would be sweet.

OTOH, would Rove then be in trouble for taping a call?

The only thing to be gleaned from this media circus is the observation that it would not even be a blip on the screen had it involved a Clinton consigliere during our 8 year vacation from history. The modern Democrat party and their faithful MSM allies continue to attempt to criminalize those they can not defeat.

The left is insane, and thinks that the Bush administration would destroy our country, sacrifice our children in a war, compromise national security, and allow blacks to die, all to make money for their buddies, or seize absolute power, or get oil, or because they want to be kings, or any other of a number of stupid reasons.

So they believe this.

Oddly, in the HM discussion, some conservatives have essentially signed up for the SAME view of the administration, that Bush would purposely destroy the court out of spite.

When the left does it, we know that it is because they have no rational thought.

Nothing for the WH. No one at the WH did anything whatsoever wrong. It was a set up by many of the dembos...hoping to stop W from being re-elected. Now it's to try and derail the rest of W's presidency.

IF indictments come out of this, it'll be the lefties in the bulls eye.

I think there should be an indictment on the basis of having the nickname "Pinch". Little snot (I'm snarling) should be put in a dress and sent to Riker's and be fed boiled dog shit (pardon my Old English).
