The "Go-Go White Sox" reached the World Series in 1959. Go back further, to 1917, for the last South Side champs.

Interesting sports commentary, although you won't like the title---

Forget The Umps; Sox Dominated

Interesting to see how neatly the fans dressed in your photo in # 152. Note all the fedoras and even the fur stole.

I suppose today we can be grateful that some of the fans even have clothes on at all, LOL.

Congratulations to the Sox. (Notice I didn't call them the SUX this time.) I hadn't followed any playoff series' since they beat up on my Indians. I watched the last three innings last night. Angels just looked beaten very early on. Apparently they've looked beaten since the controversial strike three non-call a few days ago. That's baseball. Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug. Sox were the windshield this time. Congrats.

Just don't tear up the town when they win the series, OK!!!

The Wrath of '59, when the Sox lost to another Los Angeles team:

You hit the nail on the head, give CH a cigar!

It's amazing the no-class of the Cub journalists in this morning's newspaper (Ron Rapaport for one), just went through the paper, Cub fans have no class whatsoever.

whatever happened to Billy Pierce?

He threw out the first pitch in game one of this series.

how about some Portillo's Italian Beef?

Portillo's is OK but the best Italian Beef place in the world is a little greasy spoon called Boston's, on the corner of Grand and California Ave.

I was at the third to last game at Comiskey Park. My girlfriend at the time, (now my wife) couldn't understand why I didn't want to leave the stadium. (She wanted to beat the traffic.)

I had tickets to the final night game at Comiskey. I had to rush my wife to Columbus Hospital as she was going into premature labor with our first child. I was torn between what to do. As we were sitting in the hospital room approaching gametime "Field of Dreams" came on the TV (no kidding). My wife teared up and looked at me and told me I better not be late for the game. Everything turned out great. My daughter was born 4 weeks later (still 4 weeks early) and turns 15 this Saturday. I have my box seats for game 6 of the WS and she's the person I'm taking.

We're out in the farther western 'burbs, so we take the best of what we can get. Driving into the city is like driving into gridlock hell, so we don't go there for much of anything, let alone fast food, LOL.

Facts are facts. The clear uneven playing field provided by the umps is there for all to see.

I'm a die hard season ticket holding fan of the White Sox and I'll be the first to admit that the umpiring in the series was absolutely horrid. It's practically unbelievable how many really bad calls went the White Sox way, but you know what? The Angels were completely incapable of overcoming even one of the bad breaks they were dealt. True championship teams overcome the bad breaks. The Angels proved themselves incapable. True championship teams take full advantage of the breaks they're dealt. The Chicago White Sox proved themselves extremely efficient at that.

Either stop whining or become one of the cry baby Cubs fans. Is it the umpires' fault that Vlad and Chone couldn't hit their way out of a wet paper bag in the ENTIRE series? Did the umpires force KRod to crap down his leg?

Respect? Yeah, sure. The Angels were dominated every way one could be dominated.

You think hitting .178 is going to get wins? The pitching performance was as great as has occurred in half a century or more.

Get ready for more of the same IF the Astros even make it to the WS.

When the Sox pitching is on they are almost unbeatable.

Intially I thought it was a blown call but after examining the replay the ball has jumped up which is consistent with a bounce off the ground. The catcher blew it by not tagging even if he thought he caught it he should have known that the umpire couldn't know that for sure.

I'm a Sox fan that was pulling for the Indians to be the wild card team way back in July. There's two reasons for this. The Central division isn't given nearly the respect it deserves for the incredible pitching it has. Having 2 teams from our division go into the playoffs would do much to change that. White Sox, Indians, and the Twins pitching combined make it, I believe, the best pitching division in baseball.

The second reason I wanted the Indians in the playoffs is because it seems that every time I meet an individual I consider to be a solid citizen in Chicago that isn't originally from Chicago, they seem to always end up being from Cleveland. Good people.

Go Sox! Cleveland rocks.
