have you not learnt what happens when a state falls and nothing replaces it?

Iraq had no 'state appartatus' for just two months after the invasion, yet two years later 150,000 troops are still there fighting an insurgency that shows no signs of abating. Iran is twice the size of Iraq and has three times Iraqs population.

Afhganistan had no state apparatus after 1991 - most would say 1989 - and look what happened there, look at what gets born in states that have no government - of whatever persausion.

do you have a magic hat to pull the vast numbers of troops needed for any Iranian operation from? even if there were to be airstrikes rather than a full iraqi-style invasion, the danger that the iranian state might fall and the potential consequences of that fall would be such that a vast force would have to be on hand just in case.

i've no love for the Iranian regime, but i know - because the CIA, IAEA and the British SIS tell me - that while hugely annoying and unpleasent the Iranians are they are no threat to anyone in the next five to seven years.

terror-exporting? yes.

vile dictatorship using torture and death to keep its people in line? absolutely.

all of the above, but not a serious threat to the vital national interests of either the United States or the United Kingdom. why? because regardless of the rhetoric, Iran has no ability to actually do anything to follow through on its rantings.

Maybe you should learn how to capitalize the beginnings of sentences.

"Iraq had no 'state appartatus' for just two months after the invasion, yet two years later 150,000 troops are still there fighting an insurgency that shows no signs of abating. Iran is twice the size of Iraq and has three times Iraqs population."

(More targets)

Well, well, guess who is fueling the fires of the Iraqi insurgency, Take a wild guess Mac......Iran and their ally in terrorism & preplanned murders, Syria.

"do you have a magic hat to pull the vast numbers of troops needed for any Iranian operation from? even if there were to be airstrikes rather than a full iraqi-style invasion, the danger that the iranian state might fall and the potential consequences of that fall would be such that a vast force would have to be on hand just in case."

Sit back appeaser with a big bowel of popcorn, watch and learn about some military innovations made to order for Iran's oil barons coupled with isolated Assad & company. Oh, where are all those weapons going to come from for Hizballah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas once to two main terrorist benefactors or no longer functioning? Tell me, and everyone else in here.

"all of the above, but not a serious threat to the vital national interests of either the United States or the United Kingdom. why? because regardless of the rhetoric, Iran has no ability to actually do anything to follow through on its rantings."

The murder of one, just one American serviceman caused by Iranian trained jihadic killers infiltrated into Iraq is enough of 'a serious threat to me'.

Iran, #2 OPEC crude oil exporter. Billions in energy related profits transformed in Iran's Army (horde of terrorists) for their so-called 'Expected One' (The Mahdi) for their soon to go-up-in-smoke - Islamic jihadic conquest.

Maybe you are right American and England won't initially deal the devastating blow the 'nuclear' tyrants of Tehran, but it may just come from those Iran is determined to exterminate from the sky, the Jewish people of Israel. Either way Tehran's despotic Mullahs, Assad Ba'athist thugs, Iranian backed Hizballah & Hamas death cultists are all toast, waiting to happen - count on it.

Appeasement always - fails!

Empty barrels make the loudest noise.

These fascist-style nations that depend on negative slogans (anti-U.S., anti-Israel) for morale seem to fail in the end. These hotheaded people seem to live on hot air.

Remember when Red China had anti-U.S. demonstrations as part of their propaganda spectacles? Whatever happened to those? (Or Communism?)

A friend of mine said that people who get busy with their lives tend to be less critical of others. Maybe China got too busy chucking an inefficient regime to care anymore about the "decadent West." Even the Arabs who are enjoying oil wealth seem indifferent to Israel (at least openly).

Maybe the Iranians need to get a life.
