wouldn't he want us to learn about the world he created? Why is he hiding evidence of our souls from observation?

Who said God didn't want us to learn about the world?

And He isn't hiding anything. Billions of people throughout the ages have known they have souls.

I never claimed to be smarter than anyone else, although I am not a Supreme Court nominee either.

Anything to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, eh?

Of a truth, I see no victory in this withdrawal nor in the hate shown this last month nor in the ideological divisiveness of the Republicans.

Again I aver that stealth candidates are off the table, and openly conservative candidates will either fail the 'extraordinary' test of the gang of 14 and thus not get out of committee - or will be filibustered without the Senate going 'nuclear'. Thereby, the default will ultimately be a moderate on the record who will turn some uknowable direction once on the Court.

:) ~ good job. All that needs to be said about you Rutless, for as far as I've followed this spat, is that you refuse to be a sheep. Huzzah. Amen. God Speed. Rock on. If the GOP wants to peel of the conservative base by acting like Democrats okay.. so how are they going to make up the 3% at the ballot box. Illegals?? 3% translated to a mandate for Bush, and it was the conservatives who made it happen. Do you ever get the feeling there are MOONIES around this place just waiting to pass out flyers at the airport?/

Pray... ?
Now there's an effective strategy! What would happen if I prayed to Thor for exactly the opposite result you pray to "God" for, an algorithm collision?

Have you ever been humiliated, rightly or wrongly? Did you not say, do, or think things that were based solely on the emotion of humiliation? Are you not human?

Bush is the president though. Presidents are supposed to be above that for the good of the country. Would he nuke a country just because he is pissed off by them?

If he behaves with emotion or humiliation, what will that will totally destroy the Iraq war support and it will have all be wasted. It will bolster the leftist charge that Bush did it all for revenge. Talk about giving the left ammunition.

Yes, I do.

Graham, and three other RINO senators (I forgot their names)specifically said that judges with similar ideologies as J. Brown would break their "deal". Since the RINOs are on record saying they will help break a filibuster if the democrats objected to judges like Brown, why not nominate Brown. This time we WILL override the filibuster.

Either way, the only way for Bush to succeed over the next 3 years on his other issues is to reenergize his base, through a fight just like this one. Like it or not, but the conservative base is the ONLY reason Al Gore or John Kerry is not President.

I nominate this post "The Dumbest Post Of The Day - October 27, 2005"

Thanks; glad I could provide some entertainment for you. Yet I continue to wonder why the idea of killing one infant is so absurdly over the top, while millions being murdered by other hands is fine & dandy.

So what? The left and the MSM bash Bush, conservatives and Republicans all the time.

True .. but it would be nice if our side didn't give them ammo to hit us with

I just read this headline - and thought I'd share....

"Bush Abandons Push for Miers Nomination"

You mean, after she resigned?

More rewriting of facts by the MSM...

This is an example of the type of thread that I would have provided a substantive response to, a month ago. Now, I will say only that you misunderstand the ways the Senate rules work now, and have worked in the past.

Then you are depriving us of your wisdom, Cboldt. Senate rules are just that -- rules. They can be changed. And if the Senate rules undermine clear constitutional requirements, then they should be changed.

Fair game to mock a person's faith? Regardless of what the WH did or did not do, that was completely out of line.

"THAT is the most common misconception you folks have. There is no monolithic conservative "base.""

How about the 45% of FReepers who opposed her nomination, and the 15% who needed more info... vs the 30% dead-enders who supported this affirmative action, pro-abortion nominee?

"Having objections to Meirs is one thing .. turned into liberals and borking her as they did is another"

The conservative criticism of Miers doesn't come close to what the Liberals did to Bork or Clarence Thomas.

If the President nominates a qualifed conservative, you'll clearly see the difference.

Well, I would know how I would judge. I suspect you would as well. Are you seriously suggesting Miers didn't know that too?

No you don't - not unless you violated your judicial obligations and oath and made up your mind on a case ahead of time.

Judicial decisions are made on a case by case basis. In some case, depending on the applicable state laws, a decision friendly to abortion would be the proper one. Parental notification laws are good examples of this.

I never claimed any of that.

I simply didn't believe she was qualified.

And as time went on, it became more evident to me that she wasn't at all conservative.
