He is wrong. This will backfire on you, not the Rino's. They have places to go, other coalitions to join, or they can just choose to ignore you from now on.

You have no clue how politics evolves and works to achieve. Look it up someday, you will find definitions that indicate politics is the act of compromise and finding consensus. It is give and take and it always has been.

I have watched the Senate almost every day...and one of the most used arguements the Republicans use against the dems is...."President Bush deserves and up or down vote."
So...I just feel that since that is the Republican mantra...it should have applied in this case..
Plus...don't you think it would be been interesting, and possible enlightening to find out who would have voted for her and those who would have had the integrity to NOT fall into party line..and vote against her???

Very well stated. It's shocking, isn't it, to see just how indolent the RINOS are? They're indolent about nearly everything that really matters. They are not from the stock that gave us our Country, at all.
I voted for President Bush twice, and I like him, but he needed to be resisted here. Of course he has the right to pick whoever he wants, but he doesn't govern for and by himself. He serves those who elected him. And since you can't serve all of those disparate voices at once, only one can prevail, and it's about time it was the quite right of center voice.
Odd, I distinctly remember applauding Robert's nomination and being antsy about Miers from day one. Perhaps you can check the posting history of myself and many other freepers to refresh your memory.
If "most" of the people who opposed Miers were also against Roberts, how come 80%+ of people polled here approved of Roberts for SCOTUS but only 30% were on the Miers bandwagon?

You're correct. The College of Cardinals over at National Review and NRO supported Roberts. They did not support Miers. Their motives are suspect.
Bill Kristol is an enemy of the Bush family, and has been doing his best to stick it to them since 1988. I have spent a lot of time researching his doings, and I will tell you that if you choose to think he is a conservative icon, you are a fool.
Mr. Conservative was so alarmed that George Bush would win the nomination that he spent darn near two years pushing the only candidate that he thought could win....COLIN POWELL.
What, Colin Powell? That same Colin Powell whom, as Secretary of State was trashed by Bill Kristol? Yes indeed!
Kristol trashed Dan Quayle's prospects with bad advice and was not allowed into the 1992 campaign meetings by James Baker because he constantly leaked to the press. Kristol has NEVER been about anything but getting even with the Bush family. Any time he agrees with the President, it is accidental...as when Bush invaded Iraq. Kristol had spent two years pushing that very action, so he couldn't very well criticize the President for doing so. He COULD, however, criticize the strategy, the tactics, the goals, and demand Rumsfeld's resigination.
Bill Kristol IS a weasel. I have plenty more ammunition than this, and I can document it all, so don't come telling me how awful it is to criticize Bill Kristol...especially after I have spent two weeks seeing Harriet Miers called everything from a pig to a lesbian.

From the moment she was nominated, the Bush Adminstration planned the Meirs withdrawl to coincide with the CIA leak indictments.
The President hopes to suck the oxygen out of the air and divert and blunt the MSM drumbeat over the pending CIA indictments and the attempts to tarnish the Bush White House. The new nomination process now takes the lead headline for the next number of news cycles. Bush again is one step ahead of the leftwing gang in DC. Watch him control the news flow with the new nomination process.
