The Washington Gadfly (Sy Hersh Speculates On Fitzmas)
The Globe and Mail ^ | 10/31/05 | Michael Posner

Seymour Hersh, one of journalism's crankier bulldogs, was in an upbeat mood. At least for him. A confidential, well-placed source had told him that U.S. special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's 22-month inquiry into the outing of former CIA agent Valerie Plame, wife of ex-diplomat Joseph Wilson IV, would go further than anyone had heretofore thought.

"He's going to save America," Hersh predicted, on the phone from his home in Washington, just days before Fitzgerald announced indictments against I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, on Friday.

Old news. So what is he saying NOW?

Now that Rove, etc. was not indicted? Is he still upbeat? Does he still think Fitz is going to "save America"?

Hersh is a conspiracy nut and a moonbat, and he's even wackier now because he's going to be trying to sell a book. BTW, is saying a man is "cranky" the same perjorative comment as saying a woman is "menopausal"? He certainly seems cranky.

So what?

Valerie Plame was not covert. The statute does not apply to her. This is a Demo(n)cRAT-manufactured "scandal."

In the meantime, we hear from the ten-year director of the FBI, Louis Freeh, that Bill Clinton hit up the Saudi Crown Prince for a donation to the Clinton Presidential Library and Massage Parlor in lieu of pursing the Khobar Tower bombers who were in Saudi custody.

Which is the real threat to national security?

Which is the imaginary threat to national security.

The longer this Plame thing goes on, the better, because it makes the Dims look like the traitors and nit-picking morons that they are.

Bring it on, Dimwits!

Actually, Hersh was right. Fitzy saved America by not letting this go any further than what will be a slap on the wrist for Libby, Rove's non-involvement and Cheney getting two top aides to replace the ex- Clintonista.

Fitz already said his investigation was narrow and not about the war. If Fitz dug deeper, the ones with issues would be Wilson and the CIA.

On a side note, I remember the SNL skit the article mentions:

"Although Bush is sometimes seen as a political marionette, manipulated by unseen masters, Hersh isn't so sure. He recalls a Saturday Night Live skit from the Reagan years that portrayed the then-president as a doddering fool who, once the cameras were off and the doors closed, calls a National Security council meeting, starts speaking Chinese and gives a detailed assessment of strategic threats."

Sy Hersh is competing with Cronkite, Vidal, and Rather for lead anti-American post-liberal crank.

He's tried to vietnamize Iraq with his Abu Ghraib/My Lai association. That he hasn't dropped the "neo con" meme (which most ranters have) shows him to be an anti-semite or a dupe to the shallower ends of intellectual fashion.

Hersh is an inti-war radical, ergo Bush is a war criminal. I remember when he was writing about the "quagmire" in Afghanistan in the first few days of the campaign. He's never taken back a word as far as I'm aware. Just once I would like to hear what these clymers think we should be doing to fight terrorism. All they do is point fingers and tsk, tsk.

This is just more commie propaganda from Hersh, He's one of the ignorant elitist leftwing nut jobs who think they should say what is good for Americans.

Save America from what? Hey I'm American and in the majority which is conservative. And I would say if America needs saving its from islamic fascist sympathizers like Hersh.
So Hersh says screw the Constitution let some democratic lawyer and a handful of liberal activist judges rule America, I guess that's what he stands for. He certainly doesn't speak for the majority of Americans as a matter of fact he speaks for the most leftwing radical small minority. The anti-American communist elements.
Everything Hersh stands for is 180 degrees from the principles which allows the USA to stand as a beacon of freedom. Where even the Hersh's of the world (elitists tyrants and communists) can spread their lies and slander.

"If the standard for being fired was being wrong on a story, I would have been fired long ago," he (Hersh) once said.

"A confidential, well-placed source"

Didn't Fitz say it was a crime to leak what goes on in the Grand Jury. Seems Dems can shoot all over the American people and get away with it.

sandy burgler, stole and shredded top secret documents, pleaded guilty and got a fine and community service. Libby {maybe} lied and is facing 30 years. Fair and balanced justice at its best. Oh, the burgler is a demonRAT and Libby is a pubbie. It's ok, justice is different for demonRATS.

Sy "if I say neocon enough, maybe my Far Leftist buddies will forget I'm also a Jew" Hersh never misses an opportunity to bash Bush and the War on Terror.

Just think about all the democrats that "Scooter's" leagal team can call into court. Mr. Dean, did you recommend to your party's candidate John Kerry that he hire Joe Wilson for his campaign?

Mr. Dean, did your predecessor collude with Valerie Plame to push her husband Joe Wilson on the CIA for this mission to Niger?

The possibilities to air the democrats dirty laundry are enormous....

Starting with democrat politicians, staffers etc. then start with the management of the n.y. slimes. And all their records brought to court.

Add to that, the supoena power of Tom Delay's defense team in Texas, a lot of the Democrats dirty pollitcking will be aired for the public (probably only on Fox News) and on the internet.

Fitzgerald said in his press conference that his investigation, while not closed, was substantially completed.
