Threat of Burning Christians Alive! (Prayers and help needed)

JMM Urgent Prayer] November 12, 2005 Dear Friend in Christ,

I am asking you today to pray for an extremely critical situation. More than 60 new believers in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh are being threatened with death if they do not convert back to Hinduism! It is not enough that they escaped the spiritual bondage that has oppressed their people for centuries, but now radical Hindus have threatened to burn alive any Christians who do not return to their former slavery.

Here is what happened: On November 4, a pastor was attacked and severely beaten by a group of militants who threatened his life. Now the same group says they will conduct a puja (ritual) on November 20 to forcefully convert the Christians in his church to Hinduism--and burn alive any who do not renounce their new faith.

The pastor has filed a complaint with local police, but the area is dominated by a large temple to the Hindu god Shiva. Thousands of pilgrims come to the temple, so Hinduism is important to the local economy. It is not clear if the police will take any action to protect the Christians.

What is most important now is that we pray for this situation. I urge you to pray for the protection of the men, women and children in that place who have committed their lives to Christ. Pray that God will surround them with His angels and turn back any violence. Please also pray for their attackers, that their hearts will be softened and that God will work a miracle in their lives.

Imagine what a powerful force for good they could become if they surrendered their lives to the Living God instead of gods that do not hear them!

Please share this request with your church and your friends. This is a spiritual battle, and only through prayer and fasting will the enemy be defeated in this stronghold.

I thank you for being a part of what God is doing in Asia. Thank you, most of all, for standing with us and with our brothers and sisters in Himachal Pradesh during this challenging time.

Do you think a case like this where 60 poor villagers are in danger will be reported in the Indian media. They will only report cases where there is a political angle that they can exploit. Moreover if they reported these type of stories, people like you will be all over them for hindu bashing.

Our sources of information are our trusted friends, relatives, and pastors on the ground. Who tell us what goes on. I really don't care whether you believe this or not.

Really so you are 100 percent sure that this pastor was not beaten? Maybe I should put you in contact with my pastor so that you can go and apologize to this pastor and take a stand with him!

In India if a Christian is scratched its reported in the news. Forget the Indian media, where is your western Christian media? I dont think they would like to miss such a big time oppurtunity to chide the Hindus and the Indian government. And if you have any idea of Indian politics 60 people as you say being  "threatened" would be a big time political angle to exploit.

As I said, you have confused events in neighbouring Sangla hills (in Pakistan) with the Sangla Hills in Himachal Pradesh. Thats what I still think.

I wonder if he's ever been to the US? I seriously doubt it - I've been all over the country, and it's very hard for me to imagine anyone who's been here saying the US isn't a bastion of religious freedom.

Thats because you have been indoctrinated into beliving that Hindus are a bunch of raving, blood thirsty, lying, deciving, hate filled heathens, worshipping false Gods and out to kill Christians. All I can say is get over your paranoia. Hindus arn't like that.

I haven't been indoctrinated into believing anything about HIndus. I don't believe the average Hindu is any different from anyone else, and God loves them the same as all mankind.
However, there ARE incidents where Hindus attacked and killed Christians.
The churches that are paying millions of dollars to victims of pedophile priests are almost 100% Catholic churches and almost 100% of the victims are male victims of homosexual priests. I can see where Hindus would lump all Christians together, but I'm Protestant and think the Catholics have done a very poor job cleaning their own house.
However, you speak of religious tolerance in India, and then quote articles that cover all the laws that prevent this person or that person from prosyletizing. In the US, anyone is free to speak to anyone they like about their religion. And if the person is convinced and wants to convert, they don't have to have anyone's permission - they don't even have to tell anyone. So from your own articles, it is clear religious freedom in the US is far greater than in India.
