UN Confirms Saddam Smuggled Out WMDs Before, During and After the War

In a report which might alternately be termed “stunning” or “terrifying”, United Nations weapons inspectors confirmed last week not merely that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, but that he smuggled them out of his country, before, during and after the war.

Late last week, the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) briefed the Security Council on Saddam's lightning-fast dismantling of missile and WMD sites before and during the war. UNMOVIC executive chairman Demetrius Perricos detailed not only the export of thousands of tons of missile components, nuclear reactor vessels and fermenters for chemical and biological warheads, but also the discovery of many (but not most) of these items - with UN inspection tags still on them -- as far afield as Jordan, Turkey and even Holland.

One wonders where CNN and USA Today think twenty tons of nerve gas and sarin came from: Chemical Weapons-Mart? Yet their coverage, like most major media outlets, mentioned not a word about Saddam's smuggled WMDs, which -- according to liberal dogma -- “don't exist.”

It is not covered by MSM or Lamestream media because: "It don't fit the paradigm" or template as Rush likes to say. They are so stuck in time warp all they can see is their own glory days of Vietnam, Watergate etc...when the libs ran things.

I am just hoping and praying that reality will soon BITE them in the butt big time.

Well, if the news source isn't one of their "Reputable" news sources, then it never really happened, and there's no need report on it.

This should be emailed to all the congressmen before the vote and then read into the congressional record.

They will really cry when one of those WMDs are used against us, and then they will still blame Bush. They can't get their minds around the fact that Bush didn't really steal the election of 2000 nor the one of 2004, and so every thing will always be his fault.

Sorry, but if this story has substance, the MSM would have covered it, even though it would have pained them to do so. It's too big a story to pass by regardless of how much they hate Bush.

I agree. Plus it looks a little fishy when everyone here talks about how incompetent the UN and inspections are and then tries to use their committees' reports as evidence to prove their point.

In a report which might alternately be termed “stunning” or “terrifying”, United Nations weapons inspectors confirmed last week not merely that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, but that he smuggled them out of his country, before, during and after the war.

THE LEGACY OF JAY ROCKEFELLER

Jay Rockefeller (Socialist, Democrat from West Virginia, also home to the Klansman Byrd) TOLD SYRIA AND JORDAN AND SAUDI ARABIA that Iraq was going to be invaded!

Here is the transcript:

WALLACE: ...in October of 2002 in which you authorized the use of force, you went further than the president ever did. Let's watch:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROCKEFELLER: I do believe that Iraq poses an imminent threat, but I also believe that after September 11th that question is increasingly outdated.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: Now, the president never said that Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat. As you saw, you did say that. If anyone hyped the intelligence, isn't it Jay Rockefeller?

ROCKEFELLER: No. I mean, this question is asked a thousand times and I'll be happy to answer it a thousand times. I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq, that that was a predetermined set course which had taken shape shortly after 9/11.

Now, the intelligence that they had and the intelligence that we had were probably different. We didn't get the presidential daily briefs. We got only a finished product, a finished product, a consensual view of the intelligence community, which does not allow for agencies — like in the case of the aluminum tubes, the Department of Energy said these aren't thick enough to handle nuclear power.

They left that out and went ahead with, "They have aluminum tubes and they're going to develop nuclear power."

WALLACE: Senator, you're quite right. You didn't get the presidential daily brief or the senior executive intelligence brief. You got the national intelligence estimate.

But the Silberman commission, a presidential commission that looked into this, did get copies of those briefs, and they say that they were, if anything, even more alarmist, even less nuanced, than the intelligence you saw...

I remember when this story came out over a year ago and the media totally ignored it...along with the Canadian PM's own recognition of this fact. They also ignored an exclusive interview with David Kay, where he also claimed that he had evidence-- through his interrogations, that Saddam did, indeed, move parts of his prohibited weapons program to Syria.

This is one of the reasons why Jay Rock's "warning" to Syria about Bush's intentions to go to war was also so relevant. I thought the UN route of giving Saddam 6+ months was bad enough...but with JR's revelations, Saddam now had over a year to get his house in order. When you consider the Russians and French who were still in Iraq until the start of the war (covering their tracks), it is obvious that Saddam was able to move a lot of his components out before the war even started.

Will Clinton, Kerry, Edwards and the rest of the Demonrats who have made a point of saying how Bush lied and how they were wrong about supporting the war in Iraq now tell us how right they were for supporting the war in Iraq? That should be fun to watch!

If you search right here on FR you will be able to find the report; it was a pretty big deal around here when it came out. In fact, I believe there was an AP report on the story...but it just never got any traction in the media.
