Tommy has his moments, and a good North Denver upbringing, but he's incomplete, lacking in gravitas, and not electable.

Which puts him in the same league with the virtual unknowns mentioned above. Appoint him head of the INS.

The four most important issues for 2008:

1. GWOT
2. GWOT
3. Immigration, illegal and otherwise
4. GWOT

I am as conservative as you can get but I am voting for Rudy should he run. He will win 40+ states and Republicans in congress will ride his coattails. He is strong on terror, conservative on economics, a strong decision maker, and is a party loyalist. He will modify his posistions on social issues. He can easily say he is against abotion except in certain cases, say he is anti gay marriage but pro civil union, so he is pro 2nd amendment but anti assault weapons. These posistions will please the SOME of the base.

You can not be pro-second amendment and for an assault weapon ban. Sorry that is illogical. Will not work. The assault weapon ban is dead no need to beat that dead horse again.

Sorry I can not and will not vote for him. He will lose. He will not carry one southern state. Won't happen. Bad choice.

Interesting analysis. If the south had to choose between Hillary and Rudy, you're saying they'll choose Hillary?

I think Rudy's an interesting choice. He's gonna get sliced and diced in the primaries, BUT he's the only recognized name right now that can fight for some of the North East states.

This is what I see:

The south, pretty much, are going to vote Republican. If it's a choice between two social liberals, their going to take the more conservative of the two. (unless there's a third party candidate, which is always a fun possibility.) If it's a race between Rudy and Hillary, Rudy forces Hill to spend oodles of money in the North East. The mid west is a coin flip. Oodles of money will be spent there as well. The North West is pretty solidly Hill's territory.

What becomes interesting is California. California is liberal, no doubt, but it's also got an immigration problem. The candidate that best addresses that, may have an edge. At the very least, it's not a slam dunk for Hill, and she'll have to do a lot of campaigning in the Golden State.

New Yorkers love Rudy. If Rudy can win NY, it forces the dems into a whole different game plan... and that would be worth watching, IMO.

But I dunno if Rudy survives the Primaries.

So the most important thing for our country is strong defense and a solution to our runaway immigration problem. Rudy will address that.

He certainly won't address anything in terms of immigration. When he was mayor of New York City, he maintained a strict policy of "non-cooperation" with Federal immigration authorities, under which municipal employees were forbidden to help U.S. Immigration and Naturalization officials track down illegal immigrants in New York -- including illegal immigrants who were being processed in criminal courts. If Mohammed Atta had been arrested for jumping a turnstile in the city subway system on September 10th of 2001 on an expired immigration visa, he would have been back out on the street in a matter of hours.

This kind of sh!t in Rudy's background is precisely what is going to doom his candidacy -- probably in the primary process when a candidate from "real America" will convince most GOP voters that an unprincipled @sshole (if not an outright criminal) from New York City is the last thing this country needs in the White House.

I've been saying for months now that Rudy ain't running in 2008 -- because he knows better than anyone else that as a White House candidate he's damaged beyond repair.

The first three the President is not going to do anything about. He's not.

Oh he is, if he's going to nominate more Souters to the SCOTUS. However, I generally agree with the people that say that (of course this may change in the future, we still have 3 years, and yes I would also prefer to see Tom Coburn or Jeff Sessions as President, but let's get real people) the only people that can defeat Hitlery are McRino and Giuliani. Scary really...but anyway it's a priority not to let a Democrat (and especially Hitlery!) into the White House even if the only ticket that can stop them is Rudy/McCain.

If it comes down to Rudi vs McCain. McCain has my vote. Rudi can not beat McCain. McCain is more socially conservative than Rudi by a long shot. McCain can carry the south. He can beat Hilliary hands down. A NY liberal Rockerfeller type so called Repub can not. If the base stay home the Repub is finished and that is what will happen with Rudi. Put him in as Secretary of State but not President.

I will definately vote for him too, but I'm afraid he's no stronger than anyone else on illegal immigration. NYC may not be one of those official "haven cities" but it may as well be.

Fixing the whole illegal immigration mess is really going to be a long, hard, slog. That is for sure.

I like Rudi, and think he was a great mayor and would make a great NY Senator. He's wonderful on national defense, ok on budget issues, and a very good leader. He would make mincemeat of the knuckleheads in the press.

For President, I think the biggest problem would be the types of SC justices he would nominate, and his positions on things like environmental issues and social policies, where he tends to be squishy. At the presidential level, we need to consolidate conservatism, not go backwards. I'd like to see someone more solid than W, not less, and that leaves us with only a few choices--Allen chief among them.

Rudy used to be a Democrat and became a Republican in the 1980s. Remember the great Ronald Reagan endorsed FDR for President.

Rudy might not be able to carry the right wing of his party, but he can make up for it by getting cross over votes from independents & Democrats. His biggest chore would be winning the nomination. My question is would he run as an indepentent?
