The pattern repeats every 9 spaces.
The numbers always fall at intervals of 9.

The symbols change with each new page.

On each page no matter what number you pick it will always point to the same symbol.

The computer obviously knows which symbol each page always points to and when you click on the crystal ball, it simply shows you that symbol.

No matter what two digit number you pick, when you follow the directions the result will either be 9 or the sum of the digits will be 9.

See if you can take it from there.

Look at the number 9. That number will change symbols everytime you click it. That symbol will be the next shown. In fact that symbol will be at any possible number you can end up with by using the formula =)

Look at the symbols associated with numbers 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, et al. They are all the same.

The number you arrive at will always be a multiple of 9.

Examples:

81. 8+1=9, 81-9=72 - 72 is a multiple of 9.

23. 2+3=5 23-5=18 - 18 is a multiple of 9.

54. 5+4=9 54-9=45 - 45 is a mulitple of 9.
