Report implicating Clinton: Will it be hidden for good? ALL THE EX-PRESIDENT'S SCANDALS

Bipartisan congressional negotiators squelch independent counsel's findings

Though it has had scant attention from the mainstream media, a bipartisan effort to squelch an independent counsel's final report on Clinton-era abuse of the Internal Revenue Service and Justice Department has gotten the attention of Web activists and commentators, causing a growing call for the release of the document that is said to including damning evidence against the 42nd president and his administration.

Over 10 years ago, independent counsel David Barrett was charged with investigating former Clinton Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros in relation to his lying to the FBI about tax fraud he committed trying to cover up payments to a mistress. Though Cisneros pleaded guilty in 1999, Barrett, in the course of his probe, found evidence of wrongdoing within the IRS and Justice Department in relation to the Cisneros fraud.

Reportedly, Clinton team members tried to interfere with Barrett's investigation, which has cost $21 million, including conducting surveillance of his office.

An IRS whistleblower told Barrett, a Republican, of a cover-up surrounding the Cisneros matter.

Writes columnist Robert Novak: "The informant said a regional IRS official had formulated a new rule enabling him to transfer an investigation of Cisneros to Washington to be buried by the Justice Department. Barrett's investigators found Lee Radek, head of Justice's public integrity office, determined to protect President Bill Clinton."

Columnist Emmett Tyrrell, who has called for the release of the entire Barrett report, writes:

Of course it will be hidden. If somehow the congress manages to do something that might release the report, President Bush will be sure that it doesn't come out. I have no doubt that the Bush family's FBI files are owned by the Clintons... That's the only reason I can think of for both generations of President Bushs to do everything they can to repair the legacy of Clinton...

Maybe that's gotta be the reason. I remember how pissed off I was when Judicial Watch finally won in court that GW Bush & his admin would have to release the transcripts of Clinton's 11th hour pardons..... and GW Bush's admin instead completely sanitized and blanked out nearly 90% of the documents & verbage related to the hundreds of late hour pardons. I can't believe that GW Bush continues to suck up to Clinton again & again, while Clinton turns around at every opportunity to slam & critize GW Bush. Is Bush that much of a wimp or does he just like getting slammed by Bubba as a sign of affection?

This is interesting, particularly how the old media will present the story if it keeps gaining traction on the internet.

"Tony Snow calls for the release of the unredacted Barrett Report, at least once a week on his radio show."

Perhaps we should all get behind Tony and give him some support. Or maybe he'll have a poll on his web page...hopefully, one where you can only vote once. (I've known of libs taking advantage of polls by voting numerous times.)

If anything, they'd be looking for someone to take the fall for them.

Seeing as how leakers appear able to do their dirtywork without fear of reproach or reprisal, why doesn't someone just leak it and be done with it?

Oh yea....republicans prefer to pussyfoot......

We should start a fundraiser for commercials to run in NYC and D.C.

Narration: The President sent the IRS to harrass his critics. The president had his friends obstruct the investigation. The President arranged for spying on the Special Prosecutor's office. His Administration tried to cover it up. Now his friends in Congress are blocking the Report after spending millions of taxpayer money. They are afraid it will ruin his family member's run for the Presidency. Don't let The President get away with this crime. Call your Senators and Representatives. Tell them to release the Barrett report.

Never mentioning its about Clinton, I bet a bunch of Bush haters would be outraged and call.

Mark my words, nothing will come from the Barrett report. The willing accomplices in the MSM and the other side of the aisle will once again trump the truth........

How true. Even the GOP wimps out on these investigations against the demorats.

Yep. The MSM doesn't want it. the Dims don't want it. And like Able Danger, Bush and the establishment Republicans don't want it. DOA.

This is your "Two-Party Cartel" at work again protecting the elites in the one faction. Gawd forbid we would rid ourseleves of these felons in the dem party. We might actually then get a true conservative agenda. Those elites - who by the way own these Congresscritters - won't allow this to happen. So as I've stated for 7 yrs here- keep voting in this corrupt cartel & get this type of government.
