RICHMOND -- A new Virginia law that bars illegal aliens from receiving state-funded benefits goes into effect tomorrow. The law restricts anybody without a Social Security number from receiving Medicaid, temporary assistance for needy families, and help from several other state and local programs. Supporters say the measure could save the state millions. "A lot of us were saying, instead of raising taxes, why don't we start prioritizing where we're spending our existing money," said Delegate David B. Albo, Fairfax Republican, who sponsored the bill. "One of the things we found was the state was not checking for legal presence for Medicaid."

Hard to believe that this is happening with the Dems in control. I guess they're just pandering.
Sounds like reasonable law, one that shouldn't have needed to be passed in the first place if folks would just enforce the law against illegals currently on the books!
But it's a step in the right direction, I guess.
Wonder how long it will last before some activist liberal judge strikes it down?
Great job, Virginia! (Watch your backs... here comes the ACLU). If only California would do this.
I hope they check all of them.

we tried this in California. Our own governor, Davis at the time threw it away. Never let it go to court because he knew it would be deemed unconstitutional.
Now the press lies about it and claims it was thrown down and called unconstitutional.
Prop187. SOS, save our state. We are not doing so well here because of the protection laws for illegal aliens. Good luck to you. Hope all other 49 states can find the backbone to tell these guys you cannot be a parasite here anymore.
Are Dems in control? I'm surprised they'd support a Republican's bill.
Should be interesting.
Or incredibly disheartening. A Goldberg v Kelly-style victory for illegals would cement handouts for anyone within our borders for the foreseeable future... and this one will be litigated.
Isn't it amazing how a Governor (who is sworn to enforce the law) can just pick and choose which laws he chooses to enforce? We're not talking some law from the 1800s that doesn't make sense anymore, but a law from a recent popular proposition. This alone should be grounds for impeachment.
Why are politicians so spooked? Because the media has convinced them they will be voted out by a wave of Hispanic voters. But most of those voters are illegals. And thanks to a not-so-stealth scheme to allow illegals to vote (including the Motor Votor Law, and not checking SS#s on forged documents, and plain old PC), they can.
Makes sense toe.
They are in control of the governorship.
Yes, Virginia, there are fake Social Security cards.

Posted last night - nothing wrong with reposting it after all this time though.
Mr. Grey-out Davis was representing the interests of ILLEGAL ALIEN population and not his real voters.
He "Davis" was in close association with the President of Mexico. Many visits down there 'probably' treated quite lavishly and had his pockets lined as well, STOOD up for a foreign government over his own. That should be considered treasonous activity. By the way, after that numerous congressmen and senators followed suit. How much possibly had they received to turn their backs on the legal citizens of this country...
I thought the President set foreign policy. It is not up to individual governors and congress people to visit foreign leaders and set foreign policy...
This is the first time I have seen it.
