SALT LAKE CITY The Utah Court of Appeals is upholding a judge's refusal to dismiss a sexual abuse allegation against a 13-year-old Ogden girl who became pregnant by her 12-year-old boyfriend.
The appeals court on Friday ruled that the law's ``rigorous protections'' for younger minors include protecting them from each other.
The decision leaves the teens in the position of each being both a victim and a perpetrator in the same offense.

You are exactly right. If it were my daughter I would do all I could to see that it never happened again, while helping her raise her child. If I were the boys parent I would do all I could to help with financial problems and see that my son took his responsibility as a father to heart. This has no business in a court.
Its stupid crap like this that will soon make any sexual offender list USELESS. Like listing an 18 year old as a child molester for having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend.
So you wish hurt upon someone for being heartless. Are you admitting to being in the same camp? Or do you hide behind the shield of hypocrisy?
Judges have gone insane and they should be institutionalized.
I'm sorry, but I seem to have missed your sarcasm tag.
The first line of the article would help you out a little with that question.
Question was the age of pictured parents in posting #9
I noticed that in your reply to someone else. Sorry. Have a nice day.
I have a new neighbor a young (20) lady in the US Coast Guard. We were talking yesterday and she mentioned not only did she not have any children, she was still a virgin and was catching flack from some of her contemporaries. It seems the Big Thing for young women today is to have a baby. Im just a kid myself! Why should I want to have a kid?
I could do nothing but agree and give her a bit of praise.
While I certainly agree with the sentiment, it really doesn't take very much "out of sight" time for this stuff. 10 minutes, summer clothing, baby 9 months later. I know from experience that if I ever had a daughter, she won't ever, ever, not once, not EVER, be out of sight with a hormonally charged teenage male.
I predicted exactly this occurence on a thread not too long ago. It illustrates the inconsistency of the laws perfectly.
How about holding the parents of BOTH little whores responsible?
WHERE were the PARENTS of these two MINORS?
Neither one of them are criminals. The parents are the ones who should be ashamed; neither one of them deserves to be labeled a sex offender and have their lives ruined even more. See post 7 as well; another good point. With all of this said, I am NOT condoning kids this young having sex, but since they did, let's give blame where it is actually due, with the parents.
And you were the single most perfect Paragon of Virtue in the whole wide world, ain't that right?
"little whores"?
Yet another Perfect Person appears. How lucky can the rest of us be?
Words escape me. Shaking my head. 12 and 13 year olds procreating. It is scary.
Sorry. Have a nice day.
Not a problem.
Another very good point:
Most high school senior classes have both 17 and 18 year olds. Who the hell has the right to say the two can't go out with each other or have sex? I'm not saying I do or don't condone pre-marital sex, but it's a personal choice.
