Mayor Laura Miller says she supports and is willing to lobby the Legislature for expansion of gambling so that Dallas can one day build a casino where Reunion Arena stands.
"It'd be terrific. It'd be a great shot in the arm for our city," Ms. Miller said of a casino, acknowledging that many of her Dallas City Council colleagues may disagree.

I think she'll have a tough time getting this accomplished. At least, I hope so.

You got that right...I think the casinos in Texas will come once Tilman Fretitta has bought all the land he needs in Galveston to build one. I heard that for some reason the people associated with the Lottery are really against casinos in Texas. It is only a matter of time though.

Good.
Maybe then all the Dallas folks who flood Shreveport can keep their butts in Texas and I can get a seat in a restaraunt without a hour-long wait.

This might be the one and only good idea Laura Miller has had since taking office.

Now the truth is coming out. Still think Katrina wasn`t part of Bush`s plan? Wipe out the gambling biz on the Gulf coast, destroy the homes of the workers when FEMA doesn`t act and force them to move to Texas.
Then get all your rich oil buddies to buy off the Texas politicians, and, golly, you`re in business. When will you people learn? (for all you nonbelievers, just where was Karl Rove during Katrina? What about Cheney? and, why was Houston spared? Don`t have any answers do you?)

Of course, when the opportunity presented itself for bringing the Cowboys back from Irving nothing happened. Now the Texas OU weekend is in jeopardy since the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park is in need of repair!!!
Yup, let's bring Casino gambling to Dallas!

Bush hates Chocolate milk.
Thanks for nothing, by tomorrow morning the NYT will have that as a headline.
The sub head will be "Women and Children Flee New Orleans after Bush`s pledge"

I hope you are joking...those people came here because Houston's mayor Bill White saw a butt load of FEMA money being given away and he wanted some. As far as I know those people are free to leave. We don't need them milling around outside our fancy new casino now do we? lol

GOD BIZNESS in Big D My favorite is the guy who takes pictures of your car at strip clubs and then mails them to your house...Thank God for that dude, twice now I could not remember where I had left my truck!
To: bybybill
I hope they don't build it in a dry area. I just can't gamble properly unless I am good and lubed.
