Many faces of Hillary -- none a winner
LATimes.com ^ | 26 January 06 | Jonah Goldberg

Even liberals are fed up with what they see as the senator's 'triangulation, calculation and equivocation' designed to offend no one.

LIBERALS ARE sizing up Hillary Clinton for the umpteenth time, and they don't like what they see.

To be honest, I never understood what they saw in her in the first place. The amazing thing about Clinton is that she's so unappealing. She isn't a particularly gifted speaker. She's smart, but in a conventional and lawyerly way. She doesn't connect well with audiences. Her idea of improvisation seems to be leaping from the prepared text to prepared note cards.

"Meanwhile, a recent Gallup poll showed that 51% of Americans won't even consider voting for Clinton."

I'm still waiting to hear this CNN/Gallup poll discussed and written about. Americans may have finally had enough of Hillary, but the protective MSM still loves her.

Remember Hillary's keynote to the Democratic National Convention two years ago? It was singularly uninspiring. Why are all the people afraid of this woman? Even "Commander In Chief" is tanking in the TV ratings. A Hillary Presidency is so yesteryear.

Sounds like the old "lowering expectations" game to me.

United States Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., addresses mayors attending the 74th Winter meeting of the The United States Conference of Mayors, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in Washington. Clinton on Wednesday called President Bush's explanations for eavesdropping on domestic conversations without warrants 'strange' and 'far-fetched,' launching a blistering attack on the White House ahead of the president's State of the Union address. She's smart

I would surely like to say some evidence, ANY evidence of that.

After the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Hillary — who was no stranger to her husband's weaknesses — suddenly became the victim in a culture with a fetish for victims.

How did her victimization fare in the case of Juanita Broderick...or Kathleen Willey?

That's a dead-on evaluation.

After a minor "image overhaul" with some coaches, fashion experts and major league consultants, expect her to have a new coming out party in the MSM, who will praise her "transformation" into a "new revitalized national candidate". Geez, the articles and punditry practically write themselves.

But when the Washington Post actually tried to ask her about something other than how she cried over her husband's sexcapades with an intern, the senator from New York "declined to be interviewed about the political content of her book."
Of all the weaknesses of the beast, this is the most glaring. How on earth she avoided politics during her last Senate run, and how on earth she'll avoid them in her current Senate run, is baffling to me. But I am extremely confident that --- even with the full backing of 99.999% of the MSM --- she won't be able to avoid politics in a presidential campaign. Not even in the primary leading up to that campaign.

I have enough faith in our country to believe that if you run for president, you must publicly face political issues. Am I wrong?

I've been reading Bernard Goldberg's book, Arrogance, and he points out that when a poll doesn't fit the MSM's agenda they simply ignore it.

Without Hillary Clinton to play "Ed Muskie" there will be no one to stop Russ Feingold from playing "McGovern".

Well, she's gonna have a beaut to face with Hamas's win in the election.

Meanwhile, a recent Gallup poll showed that 51% of Americans won't even consider voting for Clinton

And with the usual 15% rat oversample and inclusion of non-voters, THIS NUMBER IS PROBRABLY CLOSER TO 60%!

I couldn't find the CNN/ Bill Schneider analysis of Hillary's bad, bad poll numbers, but you can find the official Gallup numbers here:

Disasterous Gallup/CNN polling numbers and Molly Ivins doesn't love you anymore = Bad week for Hillary

Ditto Sam. Hitlery can't hide from having to speak on her feet in a national campaign. In that mode she is dumber than a box of rocks. Plus... she has the HUGE problem of having to think hard of what the 'correct' answer is, since she can't just speak from her convictions. That produces a paralysis.

YET HER HUSBAND DURING HIS PRESIDENCY AUTHORIZED INTERCEPTS OF US CITIZENS' EMAILS WITHOUT A COURT ORDER.

Americans may have finally had enough of Hillary, but the protective MSM still loves her.

She is a creation of the media. Look at her, listen to her, examine her meager record, do whatever you want, and she still isn't there. She is smoke.

When the media decide to promote someone, always a lefty, they become the smartest, most atttractive, wittiest, charmingest, in other words, the epitome of all things good. In contrast their opponents are dumb, crass, hicks (cowboys) who are mean spiritied and evil liars.

Sooner or later the truth outs. W will be seen as the courageous, good man that he is and the Clinton (liberal) sleaze will ooze out onto everything. It will all become evident, and soon I think.

Hillary has a gigantic problem. Less than half the base would vote for her for president. I suspect that appreciable fewer Democratic voters would vote for her in the primary.

For example in 1976 a majority of the Republicans polled would have voted for Reagan for president. But if you asked Republicans to choose between Ford or Reagan in the primary, then Ford won.

I think Hillary will have a very hard time winning the Democratic nomination.
