Charlie Daniels: Time to shut down on illegal immigrants
The Sidney Herald ^ | Wednesday February 8, 2006 | Charlie Daniels

Posted on 02/08/2006 6:47:52 PM PST by Willie Green

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use.

It seems that the U.S.A. has a history of waiting until the horse is gone before securing the proverbial barn door. In some cases it´s simply expensive or inconvenient, but in some cases it is downright dangerous.

Although few on the left are willing to admit, it´s pretty well known that Bill Clinton had at least three chances to take bin Ladin into custody and refused. We all know that we brought Saddam to his knees during the first Gulf War and sailed away without finishing the job, necessitating the second Gulf War.

We all know that our Congress usually takes so long in passing meaningful legislation that by the time it becomes law it is, many times, toothless and obsolete.

But one of the most dangerous things happening in our nation right now is the situation at our southern borders. Everyday illegals cross the international border of Mexico with impunity. Our cities are inundated with unpapered, non-English speaking aliens.

I have no problem with honest people coming to this country seeking a better life for them and their families, but when they come in illegally I am dead set against it. We don´t even know they´re here and we have no way of knowing what kind of people they are.

Are they Islamic sympathizers bent on destroying us and our way of life? Are they violent gang members who hire out to do murder and mayhem? Are they drug traffickers, fugitives from the law, disease carriers or political malcontents?

The fact is that when they simply walk across our borders we have no way of knowing who or what they are. Is this not insanity?

It has been proven that most politicians have not got the guts to deal with the situation. It´s not a Democratic or Republican thing, nor a left or right thing, it´s simply a political hot potato that will continue to grow bigger and hotter until it eventually explodes in one way or another.

These illegals are straining the budgets of every border state and now some politicians want to give them what´s tantamount to having undocumented American citizenship, allowing them to participate in social programs and entitlements.

There is no way that this situation is ever going to resolve itself. This is a festering sore that becomes bigger and more infected every passing day and, at sometime in the future, will manifest itself in some catastrophic result in this nation. Whether it comes in the form of a nuclear attack or some contagious, out-of-control disease, when it hits I hope that people in this nation will remember how our state and federal politicians left us vulnerable and defenseless, all in the cause of trying to buy themselves a few more votes.

In my book they´re all culpable - the president, Congress, Senate, governors and legislatures. It´s way past time to shut the barn door.

Hey Dane the comment goes to you too. Neither party has pushed the legisltion, and means, to do something about the illegal situation in the last twenty years. The only reason that it's up-front now is because of the Minute man project.

Try clicking on alien in the popular keywords section on the forum page. Gather a clue that it is one of the most important issues to keep front and center here in America.

Actually Kyl/Cornyn are trying to do something about it, but it seems that some would rather wallow in fatalistic generalities(such as Charlie Daniels), than actually support elected officials trying to get something done.

I saw that on the news.

What's the reasoning behind that? Let me guess. The Illegal Immigrant school teachers will work for LESS than US citizen teachers?

Say it isn't so...

How many times do you have to be told, Kyl/Cornyn does nothing except authorize an unlimited number of cheap labor visas to take people's jobs while deporting no one. If they refuse to enforce current laws they're not going to do it with any new legislation, especially after millions more are imported, have US born kids and are here for six years.

That's BS and you know it, but what the hey wasn't it goebbels who said that tell a lie long enough and people will believe it.

The fact is Kyl/Cornyn tries to bring some sanity to a broken system, and is much better than the mccain/kennedy bill.

Just more useless hot air from the Do Nothing ever crowd

This little label of yours fits the Bush administration very well on immigration law enforcement and border security.

Say it isn't so..

Fat chance, the teacher unions want these teachers becasue bi=lingual education brings in more money to their union coffers, while most immigrants want their kids to learn and be taught in English, but they are held hostage by the teachers unions, whom BTW are never criticized on these threads.

No it isn't BS and you know it. If you truly want the immigration disaster resolved then you would demand current laws be enforced before peddling new schemes that'll make it infinitely worse.

And btw I can't help but notice the only one playing the goebbels game is you. Nobody with half a brain believes Kyl/Cornyn would solve a thing but keep saying it will Dane and just maybe it'll be perceived as the truth, who knows.

Really, remember it's Congress that has to appropriate the money and some people in Congress such as good conservatives such as Kyl/Cornyn who are trying to do something about the problem get the finger from you self-called "true conservatives".

With "friends" like you, who needs enemies. You are the democrats best friends.

If you want the problem resolved you have to support conservatives such as Kyl/Cornyn. The reality is that the Senate will not go for your "announced" plans 100% and you know that, but what do you do, you give the finger to the likes of Kyl/Cornyn, thus emboldening people like mccian/kennedy.

So, what have YOU done lately to help "enforce" immigration code? When was the last time you've filed a complaint against an illegal alien with your local ICE office? if ever?

Conservatives want current laws enforced and have for years. You want us to be lemmings and follow these cheap labor Senators who are getting millions in campaign contributions to maintain the status quo off a cliff. It's not going to happen.

Well I was takin' a trip out to LA
tourin' along in my Chevrolet
when all of a sudden I was stopped by a band of IA's.
Now you might not exactly know what I mean
and I don't claim to be the most keen
but we don't call 'em "undocumented", they're illegal aliens.

Yes, that's what they said on the news, they will work for less and do the teaching jobs Americans won't do.

I'm generally NOT a country music fan. But I like Charlie Daniels, and his politics I like too. Musically, he's always infused a lot of rock rhythm into his music, and I like it. Now with good politics too!
