Tehran, Iran, Feb. 28 Rap music is rapidly becoming a popular in Iran and a new CD which mocks the Islamic Republics ruling ayatollahs is taking the country by storm.
The latest in the line of music making fun of Irans top clerics is an album made by a group called Dalu.
The artists have taken popular rap beats and replaced the lyrics with their own versions, blasting the ayatollahs iron rule, incompetence in economic affairs, and even their unfashionable attire.
Iranian youths, who make up over 70 percent of the total population, have taken a liking to rap music, and the combo of hip beats and anti-mullah lyrics have been turning into a huge hit in Irans urban areas.
The music is banned by Irans strict cultural vetting body even without the sharp lyrics for being too Western.
Rock the Casbah!
mullahs don't sport the bling, so they be whack.
What's the punishment?
It's 1979 all over again.

I guess if you live in a vacuum then one begins to like any forsaken noise.
Uh oh, this is going to go over like a fart in the mosque, during prayers.
*shrug* Rap. Muezzins wailing from the minarets. Not that hard a call...
If they are speaking against Khameini or heaven forbid Khomeini, death penalty can be ordered.
Otherwise, I'd guess prison and lashings.
First we exported Michael Jackson to the middle east.
Now we've exported RAP.
If we keep it up, they are going to have legitimate reasons to hate us.
Wow, I had no idea.
Our hearts and prayers with these brave.... rap musicians ???
Given a nudge in the right direction, Iran may solve its own problems.
A little more seriously, do we have a Radio Free Mideast up and running yet? Radio Free Europe helped get information into Eastern Europe to put pressure on the Soviet Union. We should have been doing the same thing to the thugocracies in the Mid-East for a long time now, especially after 9/11.
Hmmm...hadn't thought of that. Good point!
In the old SovUnion, the people knew: You can drag me out of bed in the middle of the night, but the rest of the time, behind closed walls, we are laughing at you. Sniggering at those in power is the best revenge.
