OMG, did anybody see the ad with Harold Ford, Jr? He says we're selling our ports and outsourcing our security. The entire ad is one big lie.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Miss Marple. Frist really blew it by accepting the initial press reports rather than stating something like this: "we already know that the media misreports facts more that it reports the truth, we should wait until we hear the facts before making any opinion on this matter". Its just like how the pubbies reacted to the NYTimes NSA story -- they jumped on board the NYTimes position before gaining any facts. Frist is no leader, and that was made perfectly clear by his reaction.

"Much like Iraq. The media hangs out in Baghdad, the center of the unrest. Baghdad was Saddam Hussein's playground. Of course, the citizenry there hates us."

Check out this post, if true liberals really need a civil war in Iraq to prevent Saddam's people from demanding protection from US military.

To them all this Bush bashing is sport, but there is terrible danger lurking and they must realize that.....I hope.

They are too worried about their jobs then they are about the security of this country

Oh Geez ...

Chris Matthews ends his show with bringing up Winston Churchill and a speech he gave on March 5, 1946 at Westminster College in Missouri about a world danger (shows a clip of Churchill talking about the Iron Curtain)

Chris says Truman was so shaken and upset about the negative reaction of Churchill's speech that he invited Joseph Stalin to speak at the college and to be given equal time

Chris goes on to say that Chruchill warned of the emerging danger of Hitler and the Nazi's ... no one wanted to listen back when it could have made a difference and saved the lives of 50 million people

That because of what Churchill said 60 years ago and the proving his comments were on the mark about Stalin and because US, Brits and other countries moved quickly we avoided a 3rd world war

Then he jumps to the comments of Baker, Scowcroft and even Bush 41 warning that an invasion of Iraq could lead to a civil war

Then he says he was invited to speak at Westminster College in Missouri and that speaking of the 60th anniversary of Churchill's speech is easier to celebrate and speak of a warning 6 decades later then it is to follow it when it matters and the negative reaction that was received after wards

I believe that without William F Buckley being Rush Limbaugh's role model (besides his Dad), he would not be the Excellent spokesman for Conservatives that he is today. He would not have been the great success he has become if not for that idolatry that he espoused for Mr. Buckley. That being said, I am sure Rush is very concerned that his role model is going down hill fast, and he rarely cites many Editorial Comments from his mentor/Idol at least for the last several years.

Immediately after President chose Pace, Timmy asked McCain about the choice (on TV) to which McCain said, he would have chosen someone (name escapes memory) from the Navy.

in defense of McCain (I can't believe I said that) he was a flying squid (Naval Aviator) and I would guess it was more in the nature of service rivalry than implying that Pace wasn't a good choice.  Having not heard the remark, however, that's just a guess.

Good morning everyone!

"He said the democrats should just shut up and let the Duncan Hunter's of the world do the talking and they will hurt the republican chances of winning all by themselves. He is spot on with his comments -- these republicans who are speaking out against the President, with some of their rhetoric, are only hurting the republican party, not helping it."

Some say (IIRC Dick Morris was one of them) that the elections are only the Dims to lose. The Pubbies coming out daily against the Pres are playing into the Dims and MSM talking points and bogus polls, thinking if they separate themselves from the Pres, they will win elections. IMHO they are hurting themselves, and the party. The President, as leader of the Republican party, needs to call them in and have a heart-to-heart w them. Granted, he shouldn't have to do this, but, apparently, some Pubbies are
a) too stupid to see what they're doing
b) are out for themselves and don't care
c) thinking they are 'endearing' themselves w the MSM, but their 15 min of fame will only last as long as their oppostion to Bush lasts
and/or
d) thinking that by separating themselves from the Pres will show they are independent and don't follow party lines, and, as mentioned earlier, think this is the way to win elections.

I wish they'd wake up and realize that it's somewhat of a vicious circle - if they'd shut up and support the Pres in public his polls might not be so low, they could still can their mugs in front of the camera and the party would look more united and like it was doing great service for the American people and it would actually HELP them win elections. I understand that they won't agree w the Admin on everything, and shouldn't, but they should discuss oppostion to issues w the Pres or his staff in PRIVATE before going public; and, they should fully understand the WHOLE issue before going public. Frist's statements on the port deal without even speaking w the Pres first is a good example.

The Dim party has looked out of control more and more every year and are disjointed and have no plans, except to bash Bush and Americans were seeing through it. The Pubbies behavior over the past several months has only made them look as bad. Right or wrong, the Dims stick together (IIRC Pelosi issued a mandate to all the Dim House members to do so). Republicans continue to eat their own and need to SHUT UP and remember RWR's 11th commandment.

Maybe some FReepers should compose a letter and send it to every Pubbie member of Congress telling them what they're doing and what they should and should not be doing w a cc to the RNC and WH; and, that they'll get no more funds from any of us until they get their act together and come out as a unified front and show SUPPORT for all the good work the President is doing with all the many issues facing him and our country (probably more than any other Pres in history). If they want to take an opposition view to the Admin's, that's fine, but they could do it in a more positive way and indicate that they've been speaking w the WH and are trying to come up w a compromist.

As you can tell, I'm not very happy this a.m. Thanks for letting me get some built-up anger and frustration off my chest.

Tony Snow said what I have been thinking for a week yesterday. The republicans and especially our Congressional delegations are holding a circular firing squad.

Running against Bush is not just foolhardy, and counterproductive, it is suicide.. and yet we have people like Duncan Hunter attacking the conservative movement at the base.

The Dems have learned from Harriet Miers, that the New Media and Blogosphere has a weakness that they can exploit.. the jerking knee.. Sean Hannity has moved from being a voice of reason to just plain "Stuck on Stupid" and this goes for alot of Congresscritters. Yes, the debate was productive for a short while but once folks dug in because they had staked out a "position" rather than just trying to communicate the facts.. then the New media became its own worst enemy.

We are divided now and folks are betting we cannot see our way to find our common interests again..

They are betting this will allow the Rats to take control and really do damage.. and many are saying this is the end of the conservative revolution that started in 1994. Meaning we may see the worst of the worst, the current leadership of the Dems in the House and Senate in charge and impeaching Bush in less than a year..

It seems to me this is a worse security outcome than any issue we might have with UAE paying the managers at a terminal at a raft of ports on the East or West coast.

Right now in Dubai, the papers are still playing it cool. But the Congressional reaction to the deal is beginning to raise questions about the long-term strategic relationship between the UAE & the USA.

People like Frist, a man in a power position, should look out for the USA first. If he can't, he should give the job to someone who can.

His entire family is ridden with scandals so he wnat to hide it all.

On ABC, Jack Murtha just called General Peter Pace a liar. It puzzles me how dems. can get away with outrageous comments like this.

The ad was on Steffie's program. I am not in Tennessee which I would suppose is where it's running, since it is his senatorial run ad.

NYTimes WH correspondent Elisabeth Bumiller is taking 1 year leave to write a biography of Condoleezza Rice.

No doubt a hit piece, just in time to make sure she doesn't even think about running for President.

NYTimes journo - Don Van Natta Jr. turned down a top editing position to write a biography of Hillary Clinton.

And I'm just guessing that this will be a fawning tribute to the smartest woman in the world

Cornbread and Roses

This is an interesting piece on Edwards and includes his 'college fund' that he'll be touting loudly any day. He briefly mentioned it today. I am watching it closely, because it's very close to me, geographically.

Something in the piece that really gets my goat-
He says he can go into any of the churches...

Why is it that Left feels it's totally appropriate to use the pulpits to spout their politics, but the Right are pasted with all kinds of names if we declare or proclaim moralities and we're not even in the pulpits???!!!

Never mind. I know the answer ; )

The Right asks the churches to find a way to lift America
The Left uses the churches to find a way to lift their immoral politicians.

I'd like to see the RNC use that, though.
