Slobodan Milosevic Found Dead in His Cell

Slobodan Milosevic, the former Yugoslav leader who orchestrated the Balkan wars of the 1990s and was on trial for war crimes, was found dead in his prison cell at the U.N. detention center near The Hague, the U.N. tribunal said Saturday. He was 65.

Fox News said he appeared to have died from natural causes. One reporter mentioned Milosevic had a history of heart problems.

And Milosevic was accused by hard-line nationalists for being "traitor". not supporting Serbs in Bosnia and trying to make a deal with Croates and Muslims to stop war.

I saw my neighbours spitting when talking about him, claiming that he is traitor.


And he was accused of something he was agains at first time.

His country did not have a long history of intense ethnic violence - including killing hundreds of thousands of each other in WWI and WWII - and he didn't have a significant Muslim population/legacy. There was no significant or historical territorial dispute between the Czechs and Slovaks - they weren't mixed and feeling that they lost land to the others, nor were worried about their ethnic group being harmed if it fell on the long side of the border.

The Croats, Muslims, and Serbs killed millions of each other (mostly Serb victims killed by German backed Muslims and Croats) before Milosevic.
