For those freepers who pray, am requesting prayer for my 12-yo daughter who was in a bike accident yesterday afternoon. She has been diagnosed with damage to her pancreas and moved to pediatric intensive care.
We don't know yet the extent of the damage. There are two scenarios that lead to surgery and one that leads to hospitalization and watching and letting her recover on her own. So we're praying for that but we just don't know at this point.
Her mom is at the hospital with her, they spent the night in the emergency room and as mentioned have now been moved to ped intensive care.
They will be doing a test shortly to assess the extent of the damage, we should know more after that.
Thanks for your prayers.
This is truly a blessing...Thank God! Thank you for taking time from your busy and tiring schedule to keep us updated. I'll be praying for Sara's continued improvement and for the family's welfare. You sound like a wonderfully close knit family, and Sara is blessed to have a loving family to love and care for her! May God continue to hold you all close as He provides for you.
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!
Happy news!!
Wonderful news! Thanks for the update. My prayers will continue...
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Good News!
Prayers will continue for your daughter's recovery and for the strength your family needs.
Hurray for Sara! Hurray for Sara's pancreas! Go panreas, go pancreas, go pancreas!
Thanks for the update. It sounds like Sara is making good progress and you are also. More than likely the doctors are ahead of you on the pancreas. They know from AM labs what her blood sugar is running. Ask the nurse or doctor what her lab results are regarding blood sugars, the norms and if hers are within norms. Lab equipment and results vary from hospital to hospital depending on the brand name of equipment. Most blood sugars run from 70 to 80 on the low side to 110 to 120 on the high side. All in between is normal.
Always be inquisitive about labs as you are her patient advocate. Always ask questions.
Prayers continue with Sara and family.

God is good Luke, may your daughter have a full recovery and be back on a bike in no time at all.
I'm glad to hear about the continued recovery.. may God continue to bless you all.
Great news...she should do just fine. The worst is OVER, friend. It will all be a memory soon.
That's awesome! She sounds like a tough kid.
Be blessed.

Thanks for the update. She'll do just fine. Kids are tough, tougher than their parents, thank goodness! Keep your chin up and buy some of those colorful balloons. She'll see them when she wakes up and she'll smile! (That's the first step to full recovery.)
Probably already posted, but I think the pancreas produces insulin.
One day at a time. Count your blessings, Luke, and take a couple of deep breaths. Here's something that works for me: When I feel overwhelmed, I have a private talk with God and tell Him I can't do all this by myself, that I'm giving the big stuff to Him to carry. Immediately, I feel the burden lighten. (God always does the heavy lifting, I think He just likes to be asked.)
If you remember, Luke, we'd love to hear about her first bike ride when she's all better.
Wonderful update! I'm so happy that you shared this news, despite the exhaustion you must be feeling. Please know that we are all still praying for your family and especially for Sara as she continues to heal. May God continue to bless you all.
