BTTTT!
Say what you think now. Don't hold anything back. LOL
It is too late for nearly all of the so-called "baby mamas." I see them everywhere in my neighborhood. A song won't change their minds nor their lives. The song is an apologia for a life already wasted. Too negative? Take a look at the numbers about out of wedlock births in America. 72% of all black births are to single mothers. No song will change that stat.
On behalf of all us Moms who are trying to raise girls with todays glorification of *sluttony*, PLEASE thank your friend for her grace under fire.
We have twin 12 year old girls. They prefer being modestly and comfortably dressed instead of the more popular 'trashy' look (thank goodness :)
"So how would a high school "cater" to pregnant girls anyway?
Foot baths under the desks, and barf buckets beside?
Extra toilets and permanent bathroom passes?
Free alterations by the home ec classes?
What?"
The extra bathroom passes are a good idea actually.
The school nurse could help monitor how she is feeling - take her blood pressure for ex (to check for signs of preeclampsia)
The school could help by linking her with a doctor for prenatal care.
Counseling could be offered regarding her future and she could be given contact information for adoption services or charities that help unwed mothers.
The guidance counselor - if he/she is worth anything - should do everything in his/her power to set up plan for this girl to graduate, or at least get her GED.
If she is on her way to college there are charities (MOMS house) that offer free childcare for poor single moms working towards a degree.
That's just a few ideas...really, there is alot that could be done to help.
It is only a song. Only a song.
"Let's say it clearly. Mothers of bastards are losers and parasites
Really. I'll be sure to tell my mother, who had me out of wedlock and worked nights at Red Lobster to raise me. Nice knowing I'm a bastard, as well."
This is an easy "sin" for people to point out isn't it?
The evidence being the child born out of wedlock.
Well, everyone here on this thread has sinned, some more than others. It's just that some sins are not so visibly seen.
Your mother chose life, and despite her hardships she raised a child who obviously is grateful to her and loves and respects her.
She paid the consequence for her actions, but she was also deeply blessed with a child she loves very much.
That some people enjoy to mock her is a terrible thing. She has my respect and admiration.
That wasn't so much my focus, just that solving this problem seems impossible as long as girls see it as a real "lifestyle" choice - like their mothers and grandmothers before them. As long as that's the case, the rest of us will be doing that "lucky me" dance far into the future.
I'm not happy/unhappy about her abortion choice; I'm unhappy there was a conception in the first place.
RexBeach in #14:
Tunes like these are very, very dangerous to teens and younger kids who are very impressionable.

It is only a song. Only a song.
Gee, nothing gets by you.
One surprising revelation from volunteering with a program that dealt with many "baby mamas" was that so many of them never thought of their child's future at all...they had never contemplated them as growing into an independent adult, an entity separate from them. They were as shocked to be asked to think about it as I was to find that anyone could not look forward to their child's growth and future.
Sounds like the woman you know was ahead of that, at least.
Oh man...you're wrong again! ;-)
Hi! My meaning on the second post was that the tune is only an apologia for making a really bad decision.
Thanks for the note! Have a good day.
Brilliant! Are you seriously suggesting the same 'schools' that can't manage to teach basic literacy should begin medical referrals and pregnancy monitoring?
Wait wait wait---I'm terribly out of the loop. Are these the lyrics to an actual song that's popular nowadays?
Be well, FRiend!
Especially if she doesn't finish high school.
I see no point in making it more difficult for teen mothers to finish high school.
An idea: Have the dad take care of the little one while she attends class.
I disagree with this. The left is not taking over our kids. We are allowing our kids to be taken over by the left. When my daughters were teenagers, other girls, even the girls they went to church with were walking around with make-up an inch thick on their faces, wearing short shorts, tight jeans, baby tees and bikinis.
One of the youth directors made a dress code for the youth at our church. They couldn't wear short shorts, baby tees halter tops or bikinis to church sponsored events or outings (the boys couldn't wear sagging pants and tank tops). Parents in our church got mad and asked for the youth directors to step down!
We are responsible for how our children dress, what they listen to, who they hang out with and how they talk. You can't blame society for not doing your job.
Don't know. I don't listen to FM radio all that much except for classical music.
