Agreed. And what makes this worse than Reagan's mistake, is that this was allowed to continue after 9/11 and during the WOT. If the government admits they don't really know for sure how many illegas are here, and where they are, then that also means we don't know WHO they are.. how many terrorists could be amonst them..??

The big mistake is the idea that this happened under GWB - it has been going on for 35 years.

If they seize the assets of the illegals, the ACLU would then go & seize the assets of the legals for enforcing our laws. It's already been done.

I just learned today (or was reminded) that Reagan gave amnesty to illegals. I'm still stunned. How can we allow ourselves to be so misled, even by the greatest of us?

No don't get me wrong, I know it's been going on for a long time. I'm stating that 5 minutes after 9/11 there should have been a healthy Military presence on the Border, knowing that it has been a conduit for so many illegals in this country.

Reagan's mistake was that he trusted his predecessors to actually enforce the law, they didn't. I wouldn't be morally against allowing people who have been here for 5-10 years with zero criminal record and the ability to speak English, but history has shown its a failure.

Listen, I`m all for that but I`m just looking at it realistically. I can`t see how it can be done. There are 12 million illegals, entire states don`t even have half that population. It would take absolute years and years which I assume would be the only way to go if it was tried. Just somehow put the illegal immigration situation in reverse while at the same time prevent any more from coming in, but like I said, I can`t see how it could be done.

To me it just seems to make more sense to annex Mexico, but like the other guy was saying it is corrupt as hell and that costs money. On the other hand, it can`t cost more or do more harm to the US than California or New York does which are two states I would give my left nut to see cut off the coast and flushed right into the sea.

I live in New York and I for one will never forgive the people of this state for electing one of the biggest psychopaths in politics this world has ever seen, namely Hillary Clinton. Because of the idiots I live around, this bonafide sociopath is one step away from being leader of the free world, and if that happens illegal immigration is going to be the least of our problems.

That's true, if the laws were enforced after Reagan's amnesty then we wouldn't be in this mess all over again.. which is just one of the reasons I'm set against any sort of amnesty.. without first stopping the leak.

I don't know how people can stick up for this kind of behavior. If we have eliminated the border and there is no law against crossing it without proper papers anymore, then please let us all know. Then I can stop beating my head against the monitor - since all will be well with the world once we have those 10 - 20 million and their extended families legalized.
