thousands wearing white began the march early from the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe

Here is evidence of a major supporter of this insurrectionist-type movement right in front of everyone. Hello?

Annexing Mexico will not accomplish what you want. I was replying directly to your suggestion about annexing Mexico.

As I said, it would ruin our standard of living and ensure that the socialists come to power in this country for the next several generations. If you care about making the world safe for the USA, that's not the way to go about it.

Ooops, sorry. I thought you were the original poster I was replying to.

That was a response to that individuals suggestion that we annex Mexico. You should read that other reply in that context...I was just making you aware of it.

I agree with your sentiments.

I also believe we can deport and encourage thoe who are alredy here illegally to leave.

As I said, relly go after employers, and round up as many illegals as possible and enforce our laws. Most of the rest will leave on their own if we do those things.

We can help them along by telling them if they do it voluuntarily, we will consider any future legal applications for immigration in line with everyone else.

But if they do not do it vountarily...or if they try to come back in illegally, they WILL BE incarcerated and then deported, NEVER to be considered for legal immigrtion in the future.

We need representatives with the spine to do these things...particularly in the face of the demonstrations by admitted criminals demanding legal status now.

something has to give. at best, we can block the senate bill - but the house bill will never pass. so that leaves us with the status quo, which is better then the senate bill, but we will still be taking in more and more illegals.

I would trade some sensible legalization of a portion of those we have now, a portion that makes sense, as part of a bill that had some real teeth. the alternative is that those people stay here anyway, more come, and what we see on the streets of the country today - is 5 times worse in a few years.

Thanks Jeff. I appreciate the comments. The comments about voluntary exit were particularly good.

I appreciate your comments and not taking mine personally.

The aftermath of the 1986 amnesty program tells us one thing IMO. If legalization is part of the solution, we'll be cutting our own throats. We will see many more illegal aliens entering our nation to become naturalized at some point.

This has influenced me to push a six tenet plan. Here it is.

1. The federal government needs to give businesses an immediate real time verification tool for social security numbers. They DO NOT have to be tied to an actual card in hand. (I can explain if requested)

2. The federal government needs to start enforcing workplace regulations strictly.

3. The federal government needs to build that wall. Build it for the full length of the border and make it tall enough and strong enough to do the job. Then enforce the border strictly.

4. The federal government needs to ask all illegal immigrants to repatriate to the nation of their origion within twelve months. Anyone not doing so will forfeit their opportunity to EVER enter the United States legally.

5. Any new illegal aliens entering the nation will be placed on a chain gang for three months. The second offense would garner six months and the third a full year. Any of the illegals in country that didn't abide by rule 4, would be subject to this same penalty after twelve months had passed.

6. All future work permits would be generated in response to specific needs of U.S. Business. Every foreign national would be checked out, fees paid by the specific business, would live in housing that met approved standards, and would be the responsibility of the business to return them home. Businesses abusing this system would be subject to stiff penalties.

I'm sure this would need some tweaking, but it should not water down the main goals.

BTW, Jeff Head came up with the voluntary leaving vs forever giving up their ability to enter our nation legally part. I think it has merit.

Most if not all of them are socialists in Mexico.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...
