School will be held on May 1, despite protests By Larry E. Reider
Description: Important message from KC Superintendent of Schools

For the record, every parent in our community needs to know that all Kern County public schools will be open on Monday, May 1.
I am making this statement because we received reports on April 26 of rumors circulating that schools will be closed on May 1. Nothing could be further from the truth.
We expect students to attend school every day, all day.
We take exception to anyone who urges students to participate in protests that rob them of crucial instructional time. It is our sincere hope that students, parents and organizers of a planned May 1 demonstration recognize that education should be the number one priority for the students of Kern County.
We ask parents to join us in making certain that students that should be in school are in school.
Time lost in the classroom is learning lost that never can be recovered.
kids in the school I teach atin NJ (%98 Hispanic ) all had flyers today asking them to join the protest . It mentioned how the illegals will show us who is running the country. Most kids and most parents don't have a clue what this is really all about and I scraped my regular lessons and talked to them about the TRUTH .I had some heated battles but eventually got through in some cases. This is a sad situation and I'm furious .
I told my full-time Reservists recently that I expect to see Doctors' orders to stay home for any of them that stays home on Monday...
That would be kind of acceptable...
I'm sure I upset a few kids and I'm sure I;ll have some parents all over me monday and I dont give a damn . I told the truth and that's that / I'm sure my coward principal wil have me in the office too. Sorry , I'm not going to sit there and let these kids run with Socialist propaganda and not hear the truth . Someone has to fight this .
You're a good teacher!
I wonder if all places of work and schools did this how many would be out protesting Monday during the day. Sounds harsh, sounds resonable to me.
We need more teachers like you Tiberius.
Thank you for the hard work you do.
Thank you for standing firm to truth and real education.
Any one here on FR would do the same . I don't care , I have a big mouth and I know what I'm talking about as well. HALF the teachers didn't know the REAL issues here either. ( Damn Democrats getting their info from NY Times ) I was on my soap box in the teachers lunch room all week . I tore up 2 history teachers especially ( Both young kids with a 6th grade knowledge of history in my opinion)This is one time where tenure works because they can't fire me for rockin gthe house like I did ( I'm sure I'll be teaching the worst kids in the smallest classroom with no windows, cpmputers or heat next year)
Jesus hanged on a cross, but look what that ultimately gave back to mankind. You are a very courageous teacher and a damn patriot. Thank you for standing up.
I mean darn patriot :). I just got so excited I forgot myself.
appreciate it but again no big deal. thanx
It IS a big deal. Thank God for teachers like you.
Here in Sacramento county the schools sent out a similar message, saying that despite the protests, school will be held and all students were expected to attend. No nonsense. It's a good thing too. I refuse to put up with any Che Guavara, Cesar Chavez commie crap in THIS family.
I doubt that it's due to common sense. More likely they don't want to lose the Average Daily Attendance money. In general, money trumps ideology, I've noticed.
You're brave...I wouldnt be surprised to see the ones you tore apart putting a grievance with the union, against you. Stand your ground!!
