WashPost Stars Mourn Over Patrick, "Latest Victim of the Kennedy Curse"
NewsBusters ^ | May 6, 2006 | Tim Graham

It can't be argued that the Patrick Kennedy adventure on wheels is being ignored by the media. But part of the coverage has been suffused in a bit of overweening Kennedy-dynasty sympathy. Washington Post reporter/columnist Dana Milbank, who danced a jig of mockery in orange hunter clothes over Dick Cheney's shooting accident, wrote in Saturday's Washington Post about the "miserable character" who suffered after the crash:

Kennedy tried to ignore the din of shouted questions as he walked to the door, but he couldn't avoid the woman in the front row who asked if he would resign. He shook his head. "I need to stay in the fight," he said. Then the latest victim of the Kennedy Curse disappeared...

What kind of person lives in a state like Massachusetts and Rhode Island?

Outside the Liberal strong hold cities likely some very down to earth persons who love their state for more pressing reasons. It's their home, their families are likely there, and they hope and likely work for political change to come. New England despite it's political quirks is a beautiful place to be. That saying a lot coming from a life long Tennessee Ridge Runner.

That is a tough question. I would assmue many are just like people everywhere. They vote for Kennedy because he delivers pork to the state. He is a Senior member of the Senate and seniority brings in its share of perks. I dont know much about the mental state that makes people vote for celebrities or for people who they find appealing because of a status they have assumed. Obviously Masachusetts has more than its fair share of liberals, as evidenced by their views on gay marriage and abortion. I fail to understand how they keep their eyes closed to the trash they are sending to Washington. I believe it gives them some sort of superior feeling to have someone famous representing them, no matter how badly.

Rep. James Moran, another Irish Democrat, is brought in for more sadness over that Kennedy curse. "He's had his struggle with a life he didn't ask for but he has to accept," Moran said.

Yes struggling with a life he didn't ask for , and getting no compassion from freeper EveningStar.

Kennedy really got a raw deal when the police didn't give him a breathalizer test,or make him walk a straight line or take a blood test to see if he was on drugs. Something the police would do for Capt Tom and EveningStar, under the same conditions.

This is a violation of Kennedy's rights because without that blood test evidence, Patches Kennedy can't prove his innocence now.- tom

The curse of the Kennedy's is that we the people have to dodge all the drunken drivers, rapists, killers and overpaid politicans of that bloodline.

"There's no "Kennedy Curse." Overall, bad things happen to bad people"

This has the makings of a good tag line. "The Kennedy Curse: Bad things happen to bad people."
